A Mint condition 1948 Bowman George Mikan rookie card, the only one ever to be professionally graded as a Gem Mint 10, will be part of Memory Lane’s Dec. 12 auction, starting with a minimum bid of $50,000. The card is the key to the earliest basketball-only set, a one-year offering that features the legendary Mikan as its centerpiece. Often described as the “T206 Honus Wagner of basketball cards,” the Mikan card was printed in Bowman’s more scarce second series.

The only known game-worn Jim Brown football helmet in existence will highlight GUU Auctions’ fall offerings scheduled to run now through Thursday, November 12. Heritage Sports Sunday Internet Sports Auction featuring 136 lots closes November 8 to initial bidding at 10 PM CT. On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding).

There are few names that evoke as much praise and awe as Babe Ruth. There are few teams that draw as much praise and awe as the 1927 N.Y. Yankees, which featured a group of hitters affectionately known as Murderer’s Row. Ruth, of course, was a member of that group. Bring the two commodities – Ruth and ‘27 Yankees together on the same piece of memorabilia, and you have something special. Such is the case with this single-signed “Babe” Ruth Official American League Baseball that is dated “Sept 10 1927″ that will be one of the headline items in Collect.com Auctions December sale. Ruth signed on the sweet spot, and the ball includes a B.B. Johnson signature stamp on the side panel. Johnson was the President of the American League.
