When GUU Auctions (ending November 12th) selected the software for its new auction site, it was imperative for us to find a system that didn’t allow for many of the games that may be played with auction bids. Game Used Universe – In 1932, the L.E. Waterman, Company in Brooklyn New York ran an autograph contest for boys and girls ages 16 and under designed to introduce children to the hobby of autograph collecting. According to the Waterman Company, “Collecting autographs is not only one of the most fascinating pastimes but one of the most worth while as well.” As an incentive to introduce children to the world of autograph collecting, the Waterman Company offered “333 splendid prizes, including a total of $2,500 in cash awards”. On November 30, 2008 the Washington Redskins added Sean Taylor to their ‘Ring of Fame’ in a ceremony at FedEx Field prior to the Redskins game against the New York Giants. It was a fitting and tremendous tribute to the slain safety who made the Pro Bowl twice in four NFL seasons and many believed could have gone on to be one of the great all-time NFL safeties. Game Used Universe is pleased to announce that a number of unwashed jerseys worn by Washington Redskins players for that game, which include the Sean Taylor ’21′ Memorial patch, are now available in the Game Used Universe Store. A jersey worn by Peyton Manning during the Indianapolis Colts’ run to Super Bowl XLI in 2006 brought a winning bid of $6278 in a sports memorabilia auction conducted by Game Used Universe.
