In hopes of improving your collecting experience, PSA has decided to revamp its website. This new design should make it much easier to find the information you are searching for.  Specific, clearly marked categories have been established in hopes of improving navigation efficiency.  Most notably, both the PSA and PSA/DNA homepages have been merged into one combined site with links to all of the services provided for the variety of collectibles our company can authenticate and grade.  We hope you enjoy these new improvements and appreciate the support that has clearly made our brand the preferred choice in the hobby. PSA/DNA To Tag Super Bowl Items To Ensure Authenticity

February 5th, 2010

More than 100 footballs will be used in the upcoming Super Bowl game, and to protect against possible counterfeiting every one of them will be “tagged” with a specially-prepared synthetic DNA ink that leaves an invisible-to-the-naked-eye security mark. The sideline pylons and even the coin used for the coin toss will be marked, too. For the 12th consecutive year, the National Football League will use the world’s largest sports memorabilia authentication company, PSA/DNA Authentication Services of Santa Ana, California, to certify all footballs used in the Super Bowl. A PSA/DNA representative will mark each ball with a synthetic DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) strand that can be seen only when illuminated by a specific laser frequency. “The DNA ink has an astronomical 1-in-33 trillion chance of being accurately reproduced by counterfeiters,” said Joe Orlando, President of PSA/DNA, a division of Collectors Universe, Inc. Super Bowl Ticket Stubs Definitely Worth Collecting

January 8th, 2010

And to think the first game was not near a sellout and for decades a packed stadium has been the norm for Super Bowls. Today, tickets from those early title games, in particular, are among the most desirable sports collectibles. “How cool is it to own something that was actually in the stadium during the time of the event, like a used ticket stub?” said Chris Nerat, consignment director of Heritage Auction Galleries and longtime collector of Super Bowl tickets. For many years Nerat and other collectors have seen surviving samples of the stadium passes climb in value. Nerat said a “full” Super Bowl II ticket is by far the most difficult to obtain. “Super Bowl III is also very tough, and very significant, as it was from Namath’s ‘guarantee’ game,” he noted. 2010 PSA Service Fee And Submission Update

December 14th, 2009

PSA and PSA/DNA would like to thank you for your continued support as PSA enters its 19th year as the leading authentication and grading service in the industry. In 2010, we look forward to unveiling new products and services. It should be another exciting year! Every December, we announce PSA’s new pricing for the coming year. This year, taking the tough economy into consideration, we have decided not to raise prices on any of the existing trading card or autograph services on the submission form. The only noteworthy changes on the PSA submission form have taken place in the ticket authentication and grading service section, which will now have its own separate submission form. Also, a new pricing tier has been created. After reworking our process, we are able to deliver better turnaround times than have been provided in the past.

Stretching The Truth

November 20th, 2009

There are many forms of fraud in the collectibles world, from autograph forgeries to counterfeit baseball cards. One type of fraud that is rarely discussed, but arguably just as damaging, is when sellers insist on stretching the truth about an item that is already authentic to begin with. In the following editorial, Joe Orlando discusses how this unnecessary and unethical practice harms the hobby. Read full article by Joe Orlando at PSA/DNA here.
