Lew Lipset’s Online & Telephone April 2013 Auction Preview

Lew Lipset’s Online & Telephone Auction scheduled for April 4, 2013 , with bidding beginning in March!  A PDF of the catalog will be able to be downloaded from our web page (www.oldjudge.com) in early March or can be emailed to clients by contacting Lew Lipet at llipset@aol.com.   Highlights includes All three T212 Obak sets; A 19th Century Collectible Fan of Cap Anson, an 1875 CDV of the National Association Hartford Blue Stockings, a 1929 Star Candy Babe Ruth, a “one-of-a-kind” Fleer Whiz Bang set from 1930 in Mint condition.

Other baseball sets include the Original 1933 and 1934 sets belonging to long time hobby vet Elwood Scharf with many very high grade cards. A complete T3 Turkey Red has been broken into 17 lots and a T206 set into 16 lots. There are very high grade Bowman sets from 1948 to 1953 including a spectacular 1948 Bowman Football.

Also included are high grade Exhibit sets and a large selection of rare baseball postcards including about a dozen never seen before. The auction also includes a group of autographs from the Jack Smalling collection including signatures such as George and Harry Wright, Billy Hamilton, Christy Mathewson, “Biddie” McPhee, Miller Huggins and other rare signatures.

Also included is the usual run of sets, a cross section of other items including a Winthrop Moving Picture postcard of boxer George Dixon, the first boxing subject discovered in that previously known very rare baseball set. From golf we have Two great Masters items of a 1935 Final round ticket (the famous double-eagle) signed by Bobby Jones and a 1938 Contestants Badge owned by 1935 U.S. Open winner Sam Parks.

The auction concludes with an array of non-sports.
