The Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection will headline the SCP Auctions 2014 Summer Premier Auction. The Helms Athletic Foundation (HAF) was a Los Angeles-based sports organization founded in 1936. Thousands of pieces of sports memorabilia adorned its walls during the ’30s, ’40s, ’50s and ’60s. The precursor to today’s professional sports halls of fame, HAF was devoted to recognizing the top athletes in multiple sports from across the country and boasted the most extensive collection of sports artifacts in the nation. The LA84 Foundation has managed the collection since the mid-1980s. Now hundreds of the items from the Helms assortment will be featured in SCP Auctions fast-approaching 2014 Summer Premier online auction which runs from August 6 through August 23. Read More

The Newport Sports Museum Collection began in 1953 when, at the age of 12 years old, John W. Hamilton was given a signed football from the Look All-American Football Team. For more than half a century Hamilton’s collection grew to become one of the largest privately owned sports memorabilia collections in the world. In 1995, Hamilton along with several athletes, opened the Newport Sports Museum. The museum in Newport Beach, Ca. has housed more than 10,000 significant game used artifacts and mementos representing every major sport and athletic endeavor imaginable. Read More
