Mastro Auctions Live Auction A $4.7 Million Record-Breaking Success
$1.62 Million 1909 T206 Honus Wagner Establishes New High for a Baseball Card in a Public Sale! Mastro Auctions, the world’s leading Sports and Americana auction house, saved the best for last at its second Live Sports Auction held in Chicago at the ESPNZone in Chicago on August 1. The last lot of the evening was a 1909 T206 Honus Wagner baseball card, graded PSA EX 5 that realized a final price of $1.62 million – a new record for a single baseball card sold at auction. The winning bidder was John Rogers of Little Rock, Arkansas who calls the acquisition of the card the fulfillment of a “lifelong dream.”

Auction To Feature Harry Hooper Jersey
A jersey worn by one of Babe Ruth’s teammates on the Boston Red Sox has been consigned to an SCP Auctions sale this fall. A vintage Boston Red Sox jersey from the 1916-1918 seasons that was worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Harry Hooper will be among the vintage sports memorabilia and cards featured in an upcoming sale conducted by SCP Auctions. The auction is scheduled for November of this year.

SportsFest Show Officially Cancelled
An official letter from Jeff Pozorski, Group Publisher of F&W Media, Inc (F&W Media owns SportsFest) was mailed out to all of the past exhibitors of SportsFest 2008 informing them that “after evaluating the recently completed show, the decision has been made to no longer produce SportsFest.” The letter also states that refunds from deposits will be credited back to exhibitors.
