Huggins & Scott October Auction Preview And Highlights
Averaging over two million dollars per sale over their last three auctions, Huggins and Scott Auctions has completed preparations for their upcoming worldwide sports memorabilia catalog auction that will begin October 5. The Maryland-based company, which last year sold a single-signed Christy Mathewson baseball for $161,000 and a rare Joe Jackson-Buck Weaver autographed baseball for $69,000, will offer over 1,400 consigned lots of vintage and modern sports cards and memorabilia in a two-day auction with bidding conducted by phone and Internet via the company’s Web site.

Mastro Auctions Presents Legends Of The Gridiron And The Diamond Live Sports Auction
Mastro Auctions, the world’s leading Sports and Americana auction house, has announced that it will conduct a Live Sports Auction at The Sports Museum of America—the new home of the Heisman Trophy—in New York City on Monday, December 8. Grey Flannel’s Hall Of Fame Auction Results
Grey Flannel Auctions held its third annual Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Auction on Sept. 6 at the Victory Arena Special Events Room in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame complex. Rare jerseys, jewelry and memorabilia hammered with all the excitement of a LeBron James dunk or a Kobe Bryant fast break. In the end, the sale had chalked up a $1.3 million total (all prices quoted are inclusive of 20 percent buyer’s premium). The average lot value in the sale was $7,800, with only one lot unsold. The highlight of the auction was Michael Jordan’s college jersey landing in the top slot at $114,000.
Heritage’s HA.com Passes 400,000 Registered Bidder-Members
Heritage Auction Galleries, the world’s third largest auction, has announced that their count of registered bidder-members in their online community at HA.com has now reached and surpassed 400,000 collectors. “Heritage first began registering bidder-members in February of 1999,” calculated Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin. “Some five years later, at the end of 2003, we were thrilled to have reached the level of 100,000 registered bidder-members.

Heritage Auctions Continues Tech Push
Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries began streaming video and audio of its major sales over the internet last year. After a lengthy process to implement and improve the software it developed in-house, the strategy has paid dividends according to Chris Ivy, the company’s Director of Sports Auctions.
