PSA/DNA Adds Autograph Expert Kevin Keating As Consultant Authenticator

PSA/DNA has announced the addition of autograph expert Kevin Keating as a cosultant authenticator for baseball autographs. Kevin Keating has been a lifetime baseball autograph collector since the age of ten. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1982 where he finished first in his class in Chinese language. After leaving the Army, Keating started selling some of the autographs he had received as a child, and eventually founded his company, www.QualityAutographs.com, in 1992.

This collection is anchored with his 1954 Topps #128 Rookie in PSA 9, and includes both a 1968 Topps #110 PSA 10 and 1971 Topps #400 PSA 10, both with populations of only 3!! The group also contains a 1960 Topps #300 PSA 9 pop 7, as well as other, more affordable cards ranging from 1955 – 1974 in PSA 8 and PSA 9.

Game Worn Jerseys Top GUU Auction
A mix of vintage and modern game jerseys were driving the traffic in the third auction from Game Used Universe. A jersey worn by Peyton Manning during the Indianapolis Colts’ run to Super Bowl XLI in 2006 brought a winning bid of $6278 in a sports memorabilia auction conducted by Game Used Universe. The company’s 15% buyer’s premium pushed the actual realized price to $7220.

Steve Carlton’s 1982 Cy Young Award Brings $48,875
A collection of Philadelphia baseball items brought out the serious bidding at Huggins & Scott’s latest sale, timed pretty well with the Phillies in the World Series. a 1933 All Star game uniform worn by Dick Bartell was among the pieces in the Dade Theriot collection to hit the auction block. Late last week, more items in the collection were sold via Huggins & Scott’s catalog sale. Tops among the lots sold was Steve Carlton’s 1982 Cy Young award, obtained by Theriot several years ago. It sold for $42,500. With the company’s 15% buyer’s premium added, the final realized price for the one-of-a-kind trophy was $48,875.
