When thousands of classic car aficionados gather at the Barrett Jackson: The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction this week at the Westwood of Scottsdale, the most valuable item on the show floor may not have wheels. That’s because, Goldin Auctions will be displaying a rare 1909 Honor Wagner T206 baseball card that is expected the fetch upwards of $2 million in the company’s February 2013 auction. The Wagner, graded EX 5 (MC) by PSA making it one of the three highest graded Wagner T206 cards in the world, will be on display from January 18-20 at the duPont Registry booth (#9).
Issued by the American Tobacco Company, from 1909-11 as part of the T206 series, less than 200 Wagner cards were ever issued. Production of the card was halted after Wagner, the Pittsburgh Pirates star shortstop, requested the tobacco company to stop including his image in the cigarette packs. As a result, there have been less than 60 authentic Wagner cards submitted for authentication and/or grading by the major card grading companies. In 2008, this exact card sold for $1.62 million.

To arrange an interview with Ken Goldin about the Honus Wagner T206 baseball card on the show floor between Jan. 18-20, contact Doug Drotman at 631-462-1198 or doug@drotmanpr.com.
