A 1986-87 Fleer Basketball complete set featuring all 132 cards and 12 stickers individually graded PSA MINT 9 led the latest BBCE Auctions results that ended on August 9, 2026, selling for $87,782 after nine bids. The landmark set is headlined by Michael Jordan’s iconic #57 rookie card and #8 sticker and includes rookie cards of several other Basketball Hall of Famers. With every card and sticker carrying the same PSA 9 grade, the complete graded set opened at $35,000 before climbing to nearly $88,000.
A factory-sealed 12-box hobby case of 2018 Topps Chrome Baseball finished second at $55,080 after 10 bids. The 2018 Topps Chrome issue has become one of the most important modern baseball products, highlighted by rookie cards of Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuña Jr. The sealed case opened at $15,000 before ultimately selling for more than three times that amount, demonstrating the continued strength of premium unopened modern baseball products.
Vintage unopened material took the third spot. A 1959 Fleer Ted Williams Baseball unopened wax box, containing six-card packs and authenticated by BBCE, generated 12 bids and sold for $40,060 after opening at $12,000.
Hockey collectors also competed for a key unopened box from the beginning of Wayne Gretzky’s NHL career. A 1979-80 Topps Hockey unopened wax box authenticated by BBCE realized $36,482. The set is famous for containing Gretzky’s Topps rookie card and remains one of the most recognizable unopened hockey products in the hobby.
A non-sports classic rounded out the Top 5, as a 1973 Topps Wacky Packages Series 1 unopened wax box reached $35,864 after 10 bids. It finished just ahead of a 1975 Topps Baseball unopened wax box, which sold for $34,487.

Just outside the Top 10, a 1973 Topps Football unopened wax box authenticated by BBCE generated 19 bids—the most among the leading lots—and sold for $21,502 after opening at $4,000.
A 1980 Topps Baseball unopened rack box, designated From a Sealed Case (FASC) and authenticated by BBCE, followed at $20,696 after 17 bids.
The auction highlighted demand across multiple generations of the unopened and sealed trading card market. Vintage wax from the 1950s through the 1980s performed alongside factory-sealed modern cases, while basketball, baseball, hockey, football and non-sports material were all represented among the leading results.
The 2018 baseball market was particularly prominent, placing three factory-sealed products among the Top 10. The Topps Chrome hobby case led the group at $55,080, followed by the Topps Update hobby case at $30,097 and Update jumbo case at $24,235. Together, the three 2018 cases realized $109,412.
