The Steiner Auctions Fall Classic Auction features the Earliest Known Derek Jeter Game Used Bat, from his 1993 Season with the Greensboro Bats.
This bat is the earliest known game-used Derek Jeter professional baseball bat. Ordered as a member of the Greensboro Hornets, this 33 inch, 30.2 ounce P72 Model Pro Stock bat is a flamed-burned finish bat, unlike his usual black finish models. This bat shows evidence of heavy game use, with a cracked handle. There are many ball marks, stitch impressions and black ink transfers over the entire barrel. Cleat marks and blue bat rack streaks are also on the barrel, and an impression from a weighted batting donut. “Jeter” is written on the knob in black marker, which displays appropriate fading for a marker ink that is over 25 years old.
