1869 Peck & Snyder Card on Tap in Huggins & Scott AuctionHuggins and Scott’s fourth Masterpiece Auction of 2014 begins on Monday July 28th with the bidding closing on Thursday night August 7th with the 30-minute rule beginning at 11:00pm eastern time.

This sale is a historically significant auction with a number of museum-quality pieces. It features another amazing array of sports and non-sports items that caters to every level of collector and investor. Whether you only want to spend a few hundred dollars or several thousand dollars, our selection of quality items has a little something for just about      everyone. Virtually every highlighted piece will be on display and available for bidding at our booths (#509 & 513) at the National Convention in Cleveland, OH (July 30-Aug 3). This auction is headlined by one of only ten copies known to exist of the first baseball card ever produced: 1869 Peck & Snyder Cincinnati Red Stockings Team Card and the third installment of the Baltimore area collection from long time collector, Robert Franklin.

71034_baltimore_coltsHighlights of Mr. Franklin’s collection include former Baltimore Colts General Manager, Don Klosterman’s Super Bowl V Championship Ring; a scarce 1961 Baltimore Colts “Jumbo” (15-Inch) Promotional Bobbing Head Doll; an 1894 N142 Duke Cabinet card of baseball Hall of Famer, Wilbert Robinson; Baltimore Orioles Championship pins from 1894 and 1896John Mackey’s 1963 “Colts Rookie of the Year” Trophy.

Vintage card collectors will enjoy an abundance of pre-and-post war rarities including professionally graded and raw examples of cards from a variety of designations, including Ty Cobb’s, Babe Ruth’s, Lou Gehrig’s, Christy Mathewson’s, Cy Young’s and more; a number of graded and ungraded tobacco and candy cards offered as singles and in lots, and much more. The post-war collection is substantial as well with a large number of singles, lots, complete and near sets from 1948 to present; Hall of Fame rookie cards including a Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps card PSA 5, a 1951 Bowman Willie Mays Rookie card (PSA 6) and a 1954 Topps Hank Aaron Rookie Card (SGC 92). Additional highlights includeThe Ultimate 1974 Topps Baseball Card Collection that is expected to sell for $75,000+, a collection of(5) Derek Jeter rookie cards in high grade condition; and an extremely scarce 1992 Donruss Diamond Kings Supers Completely Graded PSA Set. As always, we also present a plethora of wonderful “shoebox” collections (always a crowd favorite).

This particular Huggins and Scott Auction has an unusually large 71004_1924_senatorsnumber of autographed items with an incredible 1924 Spaulding Bat signed by the World Series Champion Washington Senators and President Calvin Coolidge, plus baseballs and flats and others consigned by collectors from all across the country. Additional highlights include: a 1931 New York Yankees team-signed ball with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, the largest collection of team-signed baseballs from the 1960s-1980s that we’ve ever encountered; a tremendous Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris dual-signed bat and many others.
