Mile High Card Co. current auction running from through October 10, 2013 is going strong. To bid and register for this auction, visit www.milehighcardco.com. The auction is highlighted by a unique collection of rare vintage cards from the family of E.C. McCoid. Among the highlights is a 1917 Collins-McCarthy (E135) blank back complete set, all PSA graded. Many examples are the highest graded of their kind and this find doubled the number graded by PSA to date. Babe Ruth is graded a PSA 5, and he is joined by Joe Jackson (PSA 6.5), Ty Cobb (PSA 6), Walter Johnson (PSA 7), Tris Speaker (PSA 7) and the Rogers Hornsby rookie (PSA 6.5).
“The set is exceedingly rare and this one is spectacular,” said Mile High’s Brian Drent. “He collected this stuff in 1916-17 and the family has had it ever since. It’s basically untouched.”
But that’s not the only stellar set in the find. McCoid also had a 1916 M101-4 SportingMilehighruth5WEB News blank back set with the Ruth rookie graded a PSA 3.5. Drent, who thinks the Ruth card will bring $80,000-$100,000, said the cards are super high-grade but 198 of 200 have a roller mark from the production of the card, resulting in lower technical grades.
Another popular set will be the 1911 M110 Sporting Life Cabinets.
These and hundreds of other lots are available in the sale that ends October 10, 2013. For more information, visit www.milehighcardco.com or call (303) 840-2784.
