Clean Sweep 1960 to Present Higher Grade Auction – Ends Sept. 2nd

cleansweeplogoClean Sweep Auctions current auction is live on our website and closes on Wednesday September 2. Possibly the best auction of this kind that we have offered, this has less than 500 lots, more than made up for in quality, with all manner of interesting card material, especially from the 1960s and 1970s. These include rare Mets cards from the Dave Berman collection and much more.

Initial bids need to be placed by 6 PM EST on the final day of the auction, now is a great time to place any initial bids so you do not have to worry about being shut out of the auctions.

The auction begins with the final offering from the great Dave Berman Mets collection. This offering is all about cards, especially oddball Mets cards. There is a 1968 Topps Venezuela Nolan Ryan Rookie Card, which is truly rare, 1960s Boy Scout cards that hardly ever come to market, runs of Bazooka, OPCs, Venezuelan Mets cards, a great Mets Minor League set collection of 199 different sets offered as one lot, and the final offering of Mr. Berman’s almost mind-boggling collection of modern Mets cards, with note to a Bowman lot with 4,659 different cards!

Baseball cards from the 1960s follow, with note to a Yaz Rookie in a PSA 7 holder, a fine run of clean 1961 Topps stars, including a solid partial set and a strong high number common lot, many clean 1960s Topps stars, a terrific 1968 Topps Poster Set, good lots of 1960s Topps insert issues, a fine 1969 Topps near-set and a nice mid to better grade 1971 Topps set.

Oddball collectors from the 1970s should really enjoy this auction as there is extensive selection of very hard-to-find issues from the Dave Berman collection. These offerings include group lots and partial sets of 1972 Topps Cloth Stickers, 1972 Pro Star Promotions, 1973 Dimanche Canadian, 1973 Topps Candy Lids and the biggest collection of 1976-1977 MSA discs that we have ever seen, including a near-set of the rare Red Barns and near-sets of many other tougher issues, all offered in reasonably sized lots to maximize bidder participation. These were collected by Mr. Berman decades ago and some of these things just do not come to market.

We have our usual run of 1980s complete sets, several good wax boxes including 1984 Donruss, and some tough oddball modern issues, including 1988 Topps Cloth Stickers and 1992 Donruss Diamond King Supers.

Collectors of basketball, football and hockey cards will see clean star cards from the 1960s and 1970s, some clean 1970s basketball sets, a 1955 Bowman football set, a high grade 1967 Philadelphia football partial set and higher grade sets or near-sets from 1968 – 1972. Hockey collectors will see clean Rookie Cards from the 1970s and 1980s.
