Clean Sweep Auctions current $5 reserve vintage baseball card auction is in progress and closes on Wednesday, November 6th. Catalogs have mailed out to registered bidders and they can be viewed as a PDF file here. We are also seeking out higher quality consignments for our December and January auctions. The current auction is the always popular $5 reserve vintage card auction. This is almost certainly the best $5 auction we have offered, with lots of quality collector grade cards throughout.
We begin with thirteen 19th century baseball cards, including N172 Old Judges, N284 Buchner Gold Coins and two key Goodwin Round Album pages in lower grade. For E90-1 collectors, there is a Mathewson and a Young. T206 collectors will see a Green Cobb in a 2, a Johnson Pitching in a 2, a Mathewson Dark Cap in a 4.5 and a Mathewson Portrait in a 2 mk among others of course.
There are many scarce type cards throughout the auction, including some very tough E99 and E100s, a big run of the very undervalued E135 Collins McCarthy issue, including a Casey Stengel, various 1920s issues, including a Willards Chocolate Eddie Collins, two Frederic Fotos, two rare 1928 PCL Exhibits and more. There are two rare DeMaree die-cuts from the 1930s as well. There is a big run of 1936 R301 Overland Candy wrappers, some very clean 1934 4/1 Exhibits and a solid run of collector grade 1941 Play Balls, including Ted Williams, Pee Wee Reese and two Joe DiMaggios.
For the post-war collector, we have a good run of 1948 Bowmans, including the Musial and Spahn Rookies, many clean 1949 Bowmans including a Musial 6 and a Doby 5.5. For collectors of 1950 – 1952 Bowmans, we have many star cards, clean commons and desirable partial sets.
For the 1952 Topps collector, we have a potential dream come true – we have authentic PSA 1s of the two absolute keys to the set – Mickey Mantle and Eddie Mathews! These are needed by so many of you, and they will open at a $5 minimum bid with no reserve! This could be an incredible opportunity to fill in some awfully vital holes in your 52 set or Rookie card collection.
We have good star cards and quality group lots from virtually every set from 1953 through 1959, including a superb partial set of clean 1956 Topps commons right from the original owner.
