Clean Sweep Auctions first auction of 2019 is in progress and offering over 1,100 lots up for bid, making it the largest Clean Sweep Auction to date! This auction contains a staggering variety of fascinating cards, autographs and memorabilia. With many great collections, this is an auction that should truly have something for almost anyone! Visit cleansweepauctions.com to bid, register and view items.
The auction begins with these key lots: E120 Babe Ruth, high grade PSA-graded 1950 Bowman baseball set, gorgeous 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie Card SGC 4.5, sharp 1956 Topps set with many PSA 7 keys, similar 1966 Topps set, an incredible custom Mickey Mantle bat with a Triple Crown inscription, a great 1920s Walter Johnson signed Exhibit card, a rare Elston Howard single signed ball, a superb Babe Ruth autograph signed two months before he died and a wonderful 18th century John Hancock signed document.
We continue the auction with a great offering of Old Judges. This offering is notable for its quantity (191 different lots!) and quality, six rare spotted ties and twenty-four different HOFers with scarcities.
Single baseball cards offer three T206s with Broad Leaf 350 backs, an E98 run, a sharp run of 1948 Leafs with short-prints, 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 1.5, 1954 Topps Aaron Rookie PSA 6, a PSA 8 and 9 Red Heart run and many fine PSA 8 and 9 key cards from the 1960s.
Baseball card sets and lots start with T206s and go into the early 1980s. These include our usual offering of mid-grade Topps and Bowman sets, along with a PSA-graded 1964 Stand Up set and some interesting oddball lots.
Baseball autographs are very well represented in the auction. Highlights include a signed 1958 Topps Yankee team set, key GPCs including a rare and superb Mordecai Brown, a Lou Gehrig/Johnny Grabowski cut, hundreds of quality 8x10s in lots, Mickey Mantle’s signed 1951 High School yearbook, a run of Derek Jeter signed large prints, several terrific signed books and fine signed bats.
Signed baseballs include a Mint Roger Maris single, some rare singles including Jake Pitler and several quality group lots. Team balls include 1928 A’s, 1930 Cubs, 1936 Yankees and 1952 Yankees signed baseballs.
Entertainment autographs are a real high point of the auction. Filling up 10 pages, this is our largest offering ever. Most of these autographs are from a wonderful single-owner collection from the early 1950s, introduced to our hobby for the first time here. The content is almost mind boggling, including Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart and just about any key star you can think of from the early 1950s.
Collectors of non-sports cards should have a field day here, with many quality group lots, 1933 National Chicle Dare Devils, 1933 Sea Raiders, 1938 Horrors of War, a superb 1948 Leaf Pirates PSA-graded set and much more.
Basketball collectors will see classic Rookie Cards and a fine selection of LeBron James and Michael Jordan signed jerseys and large prints.
Football collectors will see quality card sets, many top Tom Brady signed items, a wonderful run of Super Bowl MVP signed programs and a fascinating collection of thousands of vintage College and High School pins.
Baseball memorabilia closes out the auction. We have some nice 1920s and 1930s World Series programs, one of our best offerings ever of game used and early collector bats, several signs, a superb Hartland Statue section including a rare Mickey Mantle ash tray, a gorgeous 1958 vintage Yankee team photo that likely hung in Yankee Stadium and a gorgeous 1996 Atlanta Braves ring.
Consign to Clean Sweep (also Buying)
Clean Sweep Auctions is proud to report that our auction sales continue to be solid and we are currently seeking consignments of items valued at $500 or more for our upcoming auctions. In this challenging economic environment, our unique auction format is more important than ever to help achieve outstanding results when selling your treasured collection.
Clean Sweep Auctions has been running real auctions since 1996. The owner, Steve Verkman, has been active on the show circuit since 1988. Why is this important? We have over 15,000 customers in our database and have relationships with many clients over decades. In this age of instant auction companies, this is something that is vital.
With our 20 years in the business, we have few peers in our knowledge and expertise on vintage cards, autographs, publications and memorabilia. We have regularly won $1,000 single items for cents on the dollar that were buried into group lots in other major auctions. As a retailer as well as an auctioneer, we know for example what single signed baseball retails for $100 and for $500; this is vital in properly preparing lots for your collection. We are also very careful about researching obscurities and variations in the worlds of cards, autographs and memorabilia. We go out of our way to provide the most honest, properly detailed descriptions in the industry.
This is a term that gets thrown around by everyone but when something is sold in a Clean Sweep Auction, bidders know they are bidding on something real. Bidders do not hesitate to leave maximum bids in our auction as they know there is not a chance that they will be run up. Clean Sweep is the only major auction houses that not only restricts consignor bidding but actively polices it. Finally, when it comes to getting paid, we are always on time and offer tremendous cash advances for appropriate consignments.
WEB SITE AND MOBILE VERSION
Our battle-tested web site is the best in the industry. We allow bidders to bid on 50 lots at a time and we were the first auction site to offer PDF full-color downloads of the auction catalog. We have been taking internet bids for 10 years. Perhaps most importantly, we have the largest and finest quality images on the web and continue to be the industry leader in this respect. In this day and age, the web site is often more important than the printed catalog to many bidders. WE ARE THE ONLY AUCTION HOUSE WITH A CUSTOM MOBILE VERSION.
We charge a 10% commission on all items that sell for $500 or more and 15% for lots that sell for under $500.
Clean Sweep Auctions offers national exposure, quality descriptions and no excess lotting. Deal with the most honest auction in the industry.
