Arguably the greatest achievement in all of sports is throwing a Perfect Game. Only twenty one have ever been masterfully carved in well over 100 years of baseball history. It is the pinnacle of pitching, the masterpiece of a career. Only one has ever been thrown in post-season or World Series play, and that game was thrown by the New York Yankees Don Larsen during Game five of the 1956 World Series. On October 8th, 1956 Larsen spun his gem, needing only 97 pitches to complete the feat, striking out seven and going to a three-ball count just once.
Now, 56 years later, Don Larsen is putting up one of the most coveted artifacts in baseball history, the jersey and pants which he wore during that game, for auction. Beginning on October 8th, 2012, this uniform will be listed for bid on the www.steinersports.com auction. One lucky bidder will take home one of the greatest baseball artifacts in existence.
