Goldin, the leading collectible marketplace, announces the Hobby’s single greatest collection with its Dream Team auction. Presented is the complete set of the 1992 Dream Team game-used signed shoes and photo-matched jerseys – a collection that’s estimated to be worth $10 million. The auction includes items from the legendary Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, as well as David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, Christian Laettner, Clyde Drexler and Chris Mullin. Bid, view and register for the auction at https://goldin.co/buy. Bidding ends May 24, 2023.
The auction opens following the series premiere of “King of Collectibles: the Goldin Touch,” the Netflix show starring Goldin Executive Chairman and Founder Ken Goldin. Available for viewing now, the show goes behind the scenes to show the thrilling action inside of the leading auction house, including Goldin jetting around the country with armed guards while buying, selling and appraising million-dollar plus items with celebrities including Mike Tyson, Logan Paul and many others. This extraordinary Dream Team collection was also filmed for the capstone episode of the show making not only auction history but TV history.
In sports, revolution came at the 1992 Summer Olympics. That was when pro athletes were first allowed to compete and when two iconic words entered the sports lexicon: Dream Team. The 1992 Dream Team was by far the most dominant, the most important and the most influential team the world has ever seen. Despite fiercely competing against one another in their regular pro games, these superstars seamlessly gelled together on the court. Over the course of their careers, these dozen Dreamers would amass a combined 23 NBA championships, 15 MVP Awards and 117 All-Star appearances. In Barcelona, Team USA steamrolled the competition to win gold, beating Angola, Croatia, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Puerto Rico and Lithuania by an astounding average of 44 points per game. Their epic performance caused a soaring global interest in basketball.
“Working with Karl Malone and bringing this extraordinary Dream Team Collection to auction has been a major highlight of my career in collectibles,” Goldin recalled. “And then knowing that Netflix viewers would get to see behind the scenes of the deal made it an even more thrilling experience for our auction company and the broader Goldin community.”
