Goldin’s Current April Elite Auction Ends May 4, 2024The auction includes collectibles from Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Michael Jordan and others.  Bid, view and register for the auction at goldin.co.

The auction will feature a pair of NBA finals game-used and signed Lebron James sneakers, worn by James in game four of the 2011 finals. The Nike LeBron 8 basketball sneakers are predominantly red with black laces and white Nike Swoosh logos outlined in gold on the outside of each ankle. Also up for auction is a Kobe Bryant game-used Lakers jersey and 1984-1985 Chicago Bulls Multi-Signed Basketball, including a rare Michael Jordan rookie signature.

Iconic Type 1 Photos of Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Wayne Gretzky, Muhammad Ali Up for Auction

Goldin, the leading collectibles marketplace, announces a collection of rare and notable Type 1 photographs are up for auction, including an original photo of Michael Jordan at his first workout as a rookie. The 1984 Michael Jordan rookie photo shows Jordan at Bulls training camp wearing a pair of his Nike Air Ships in the NBA-banned BRED colorway.

This Type 1 collection is available for bidding as part of Goldin’s April Elite Auction and showcases iconic athletes such as Mike Tyson, Wayne Gretzky and Muhammad Ali in some of the earliest moments of their careers. Type 1 photos, which have surged in popularity in recent years, are classified according to their originality by PSA’s Photo Type Classification System©.

In addition to the 1984 Jordan photo, the collection includes an image of the iconic 1968 Olympics Black Power salute of Tommie Smith and John Carlos on the podium in full color, and Mike Tyson at age 14 by photographer Lori Grinker. Additionally, the auction will feature a Type 1 photo of Lew Alcindor from his 1969 rookie debut game, mid-sky hook

Other notable Type 1 photos that will be featured in the April Elite Auction include:

  • Wayne Gretzky in 1979 in an Edmonton Oilers uniform at his second-ever exhibition game.
  • Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) from an early Stanley Weston photo session in 1962 where he’s in a fierce fighting pose.
  • Satchel Paige in the Negro Leagues in 1941 in his elegant wind-up pose.
