Collectibles from All-Time Hip-Hop Legends Up For Sale

Goldin, is auctioning an assortment of iconic hip-hop items as part of the March Pop Culture Elite Auction, including an index card signed by one of the greatest rappers of all time: Notorious B.I.G. The incredible collection highlights the importance of hip-hop to American pop culture. The genre has greatly influenced music and American culture as a whole for the past 50 years, as noted by the CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr.: “Its contributions to art, fashion, sport, politics, and society cannot be overstated.”

This collection offers the opportunity for fans of the genre to own a key piece of its history and additional notable items up for sale include:

  • 1999 Type 1 original photo of Eminem wearing a strait jacket in a padded room. The early Slim Shady-era studio portrait was captured by famed hip-hop photographer Nitin Vadukul for Source Magazine.
  • Eazy-E-signed and inscribed Straight Outta Compton CD booklet, accompanying an original version of the CD. The inscription includes N.W.A’s famous and controversial lyrics, stating: “2 Sam Stay Cool Homeboy F*ck Tha Police.” The album, released in 1988, merged lyricism with the reality of life in Compton, California and catapulted the gangsta rap genre into the mainstream.
  • Tupac Shakur-signed and handwritten letter addressed to his girlfriend Simi, who the multi-talented artist was first introduced to when she sent him a letter in prison. The correspondence continued, resulting in this more risque letter.
  • Signed and inscribed photograph of the late legend Mac Miller. The rapper signed his name across the 8×10 photograph with a silver marker.

Signed Documents from U.S. Presidents, Founding Fathers Up for Auction Through Goldin

Goldin announces that a collection of historical documents signed by some of the most iconic figures in U.S. History including Abraham Lincoln, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison are up for sale through its March Pop Culture Auction.

The collection includes a document signed by Abraham Lincoln and his Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton appointing a new Assistant Quartermaster to oversee supply logistics for Union forces during the Civil War in 1862. The document stands as a reminder of Lincoln’s unwavering commitment to guiding the nation through the war. The auction will also feature a document signed by John Hancock that orders a quantity of items to be shipped from the Boston Harbor to Annapolis, Maryland. The document is dated September 28, 1767 when Hancock was just a prominent merchant appointed by the British government. Hancock’s iconic flowing signature, which is best remembered for its size and boldness on the Declaration of Independence, is instantly recognizable yet predates the Declaration by nearly a decade.

The auction features many other notable historical collectibles, including:

  • Thomas Jefferson and James Madison dual-signed land grant, which is dated January 3, 1807, formalizing the transfer of an Ohio property to a new citizen-owner. This display also includes a U.S. two dollar bill featuring Jefferson’s likeness.
  • James Monroe and John Quincy Adams dual-signed and framed ship’s paper dated September 20, 1823, which includes the embossed, off-white Presidential Seal.
  • James Garfield, the 20th president of the United States, signed and dated a document from May 28, 1881. The signed item is accompanied by a crystal-clear portrait photograph and a U.S. one-dollar coin.
