Gotta Have Rock and Roll 2024 Sports Legends Auction – is off and running with outstanding game-used and vintage sports items up for bid from superstars past and present. Leading things off is a pair of game footballs thrown for touchdowns by Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLIX, and two pairs of game-used and signed shoes worn by Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal during championship seasons from their respective careers. The shoes were consigned by former NBA player John Salley, while another ex-NBA player, Jason Terry, has consigned several items from his personal collection including dozens of game-worn NBA jerseys he secured from notable opponents during his time as player and coach.
“We are extremely excited about this month’s auction,” said GHRAR President Dylan Kosinski. “It’s been a pleasure working with both John Salley and Jason Terry to share their personal collections with collectors from around the world. It will be fun to watch as the bidding unfolds.”
The auction opened on Jan. 31 and holds much more than football and basketball, however, as vintage baseballs signed by the likes of Babe Ruth and Christy Mathewson, and game-used bats from MLB sluggers including Mark McGwire and Shohei Ohtani are also presented. A bevy of game-worn soccer jerseys from the late Diego Maradona and boxing gear signed by “The Greatest” himself, Muhamad Ali, are featured as well. In all, 480 individual sports lots are up for bid at www.gottahaverockandroll.com. Rest assured, heavy emphasis has been placed on the provenance and authenticity behind each item.
Here are some of the top lots up for bid:
Pair of Tom Brady Super Bowl XLIX Footballs Thrown for TDs (2/1/15)
Competing in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks’ vaunted “Legion of Boom,” New England Patriots QB Tom Brady made history, again. Having entered the game with eight Super Bowl touchdown passes to his credit, Brady registered four more touchdown passes to lead New England to a 28-24 victory. More importantly, Brady’s second and third TD passes that day tied and then broke 49ers legend Joe Montana’s long standing Super Bowl record of 11 touchdown passes in a career. This lot features the two specific Wilson game balls that he threw that day for those two touchdowns, one to Rob Gronkowski and the other to Danny Amendola to break the NFL record. The second football has even been signed by both Brady and Amendola. Bidding on this lot opened at $500,000.
“This lot packs plenty of significance,” said Kosinski. “It involves record-breaking moments tying together two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.”
Babe Ruth Single-Signed Spalding Baseball Circa 1930s (PSA/DNA & JSA)
Babe Ruth, the legendary New York Yankees slugger with 714 home runs and a lifetime batting average of .366 to his credit, signed a featured Spalding “Babe Ruth Home Run Special” baseball perfectly on the sweet spot. The sweet spot on any baseball belonged to Ruth; he earned it. His unmistakable script appears in bold, black fountain pen. This is just one of several Ruth-signed baseballs listed. Bidding on this lot opened at $50,000.
From The John Salley Collection
Michael Jordan’s 1995-96 Game-Worn & Signed Air Jordan 11 Shoes (PSA/DNA)
During the 1995-96 NBA season, Jordan turned back the clock and led the Chicago Bulls to their fourth NBA title in six years. He led the league in scoring by averaging 30.4 points per game and dominated the postseason, culminating in his fourth NBA Finals MVP award in four trips. The offered pair of size 13.5 Air Jordan Concord 11 colorway sneakers were worn by Jordan during that campaign. What’s more is that MJ signed both shoes beautifully in black marker. Bidding on this lot opened at $10,000.
Shaquille O’Neal Game-Worn & Signed Dunk Shoes from 2000 NBA Finals Game 6 (6/19/00)
This pair of size 22 gamers originates from the first of O’Neal’s three NBA titles with the Lakers and were worn by the big man on June 19, 2000, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals versus the Indiana Pacers. The dual-color (white with black accents) Dunk high-tops show solid wear from the Game 6 battle, in which the Lakers won 116-111 and O’Neal scored 41 points. Both shoes still have their worn laces and have been signed by Shaq on the right exterior sides in black fine-point marker. He added his uniform number “34” to both autographs. Bidding on this lot opened at $10,000.
From The Jason Terry Collection
Kevin Durant Photo-Matched, Game-Used & Signed Phoenix Suns Home Jersey (10/28/23)
On Oct. 28, 2023, the Suns hosted the Utah Jazz and posted a 126-104 victory at the Footprint Center. This lot offers Durant’s game-worn jersey from that battle in which he scored a game-high 26 points and added seven assists. Durant has signed the back of the jersey to the right of his uniform number in black fine-point marker and added *#35” and “Game Worn” as the inscription. The jersey has been photo-matched to this particular game by Real Game Used LLC. Bidding on this lot opened at $3,000.
Luka Doncic Photo-Matched, Game-Used & Signed Dallas Mavericks Home Jersey (4/7/23)
As the Mavs leading scorer, Doncic is feared by opponents across the NBA landscape. On April 7, 2023, in the second to last game of the season, Doncic scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds in just 12 minutes of play in a narrow loss to the Chicago Bulls. With the Mavs already out of playoff contention, he saw only limited time. Offered here is the Mavericks “Association Edition” home jersey Doncic wore that night. The signed jersey has been photo-matched to this particular game by Real Game Used LLC. Bidding on this lot opened at $5,000.
The auction opened Jan. 31. Bidding is available online and interested buyers are encouraged to register now to ensure their participation. This is a great chance for collectors from around the world to own coveted pieces of sports history. Bidding closes Feb. 23.

About Gotta Have Rock And Roll
GottaHaveRockandRoll.com, an online auction site devoted to rock and roll and pop art, was launched in 2008. Since its launch we have held many extremely successful auctions, starting with the Rock and Pop Art Auction 2008, where we broke the world record for the highest priced Elvis Presley item ever to be sold at auction, his famed Peacock Jumpsuit! The sale of this jumpsuit is to be included in the new edition of Guinness World Records. Another highlight of that auction was John Lennon’s Talisman necklace; the very same necklace worn by Lennon in the infamous nude cover photograph for John & Yoko’s “Two Virgins” album in 1968 and worn by Lennon constantly in ’67 and ’68. This necklace was sold for $528,000! Following on the heels of this auction was the Rock and Roll Photography Auction that featured over 250 original, many never-before-seen, rock and roll photographs. Subsequent auctions include the sale of John Lennon’s piano for over $750,000, Duane Allman’s gold top Gibson guitar for over 1 million dollars. Our Pop Culture auctions include every aspect of collecting from Rock and Roll, Sports, to Political memorabilia and everything in between.
