Grey Flannel Auctions, has established a reciprocal marketing alliance with Steiner Sports, the sports memorabilia firm whose association with the New York Yankees gives them the exclusive right to market the team’s game-used equipment and apparel. “Grey Flannel Auctions and Steiner Sports are joining forces to cross-promote our respective sales taking place in early December,” said Grey Flannel’s president, Richard E. Russek. “In addition, Grey Flannel’s December sale, which will feature rare, game-used jerseys and memorabilia, will also include a special selection of approximately 200 tremendous lots from Steiner Sports. Wherever we go to publicize our sale, including shows, malls and other events, we’ll be bringing along choice highlights from the Steiner selection.”
The Steiner Sports portion of Grey Flannel’s sale is highlighted by Yankees-Steiner jerseys game used by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, to name but a few of the superstars represented, and dozens of unique autographed pieces available only through Steiner Sports.
Key items already consigned to Grey Flannel for the December sale include a circa-1932 game-used Lou Gehrig pinstriped jersey, Mickey Mantle’s batting helmet, and a Thurman Munson game-used Bicentennial bat. Other top lots from legendary Yankees include a Yogi Berra’s catcher’s mask and a 1977 Billy Martin manager-worn jersey.
“There can be little doubt that this auction is destined for greatness and that this new partnership with our friends at Steiner Sports will create an extremely powerful marketing force,” said Russek. “It’s a perfect match.”
