Visit Huggins & Scott Auction this weekend at the Fansedge Sports Spectacular July 16-18, 2010. Huggins and Scott’s rapid growth has caused the company to double the frequency of its catalog auctions beginning this year, now offering up to six auctions annually. “Our upcoming July auction will produce an industry stir as the company offers unique and rare items such as the Strasburg 1-of-1 and the 1954 Topps uncut sheet,” said the company’s head writer, Kevin Heffner. “But the company has many great items slated for our September sale, with many items to be displayed at The National Sports Card & Collectibles Convention in Baltimore this August.” The two marquee collectibles in the July auction are undoubtedly the 2010 Bowman Stephen Strasburg #1/1 Red Parallel Certified Autograph rookie card and the uncut sheet of 1954 Topps baseball cards, featuring the rookie cards of Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Al Kaline (a 1 of 1 in its own right). Both of these items have drawn intense interest from the collecting public and may soar to unprecedented levels.
Card collectors will enjoy an abundance of 19th century and early 20th century rarities including examples of vintage cards from producers: Allen & Ginter, Goodwin Champions, Zeenuts, Sporting Life and Turkey Red Cabinets. There is a fine selection of 1909-11 T206 White Borders including many high-grade Hall of Famers. Regional rarities include a Briggs Meats uncut panel of Mickey Vernon & Eddie Yost and an Arch McDonald panel with Rick Ferrell & Walt Masterson.
Several pieces of high quality autographed items from baseball icons will also be offered in the upcoming auction. Included is a Babe Ruth signed mini-bat, Cy Young photo, Lou Gehrig newspaper photo, Roger Hornsby signed baseball, as well as several other Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autographed pieces. All autographs have been examined and authenticated by either James Spence Authentications or Professional Sports Authenticators.
Other phenomenal artifacts in this auction include a 1951 Bowman Baseball complete set with graded Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays rookie cards, a 1952 Topps low series set, a 1952 Topps #49 Johnny Sain Error card graded a PSA 8 (highest graded), a 1952 Num Num graded set, a 1957 Swifts Meats complete graded set along with an incredible run of vintage Topps baseball card complete sets.
As with most of Huggins and Scott Auctions, they will have a large number of autographed lots with baseballs, bats, lithographs, photographs and others consigned by collectors from all across the country.
