Huggins and Scott’s Second Auction of 2016 Set to Begin May 9th

It features another amazing array of items that caters to every level of collector and investor. Whether you only want to spend a few hundred dollars or several thousand dollars, our selection of quality items has a little something for just about everyone. Several unique lots headline this auction. We open the auction with the first and only offered T206 Hal Chase “Holding Trophy” version with a near impossible Brown Lenox advertising back.


Vintage baseball card collectors will enjoy an abundance of pre-and-post war rarities including professionally graded and raw examples of cards from a variety of designations, including Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Christy Mathewson, Cy Young, Shoeless Joe Jackson and more; a number of graded and ungraded tobacco and candy cards offered as singles and in lots, and much more. Highlights include: a near T206 White Border set broken up into a number of lots, many with rare backs; a number of T205 and T207s in lots and singles and many more.

The post-war collection is substantial as well with an unusually large number of singles, lots, complete and near sets from 1933 to present. Highlights include: a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card #311 PSA 5 (mc); the #2 ranked PSA Graded 1967 OPC Baseball set; a fresh-to-the-hobby collection of 1952 Tip-Top Bread Labels with the original album; a 1957 Topps baseball unopened wax pack PSA 7; two remarkable 1960 Topps baseball unopened rack packs from a new find, and much more. This auction has a large number of baseball autographed items highlighted by the third installment of the “We Are The Champions” section featuring team-signed baseballs from a number of World Series Champions from 1940-1958 (the earlier years, going back to 1921, will follow in subsequent auctions); a neat Johnny Evers signed cut with a “Tinker, Evers & Chance” inscription; a 1933 Goudey signed Rogers Hornsby card; a nice Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig dual signed baseball; an impressive framed collage of 3000 Hit Club members with Cobb, Collins, Clemente, Honus Wagner and 20 others; and loads more.

Staying in the memorabilia category, we are pleased to offer a number of neat mementos including a tremendous collection of 1914 Giants/White Sox World Tour ephemera; a beautiful 1927 World Series Press Pin; Calvin Coolidge’s 1923 National League Season Pass; a neat Forbes Field Stadium Sign; a possibly one-of-a-kind 1960s Houston Astros “Astronaut” pennant; and many more. Leading off is an Al Simmons game used Louisville Slugger bat, cut in half and signed by the entire 1940 American League All Star team; a 1962 Gaylord Perry game used Giants jersey; a tremendous Cal Ripken Jr. signed game used Rawlings fielding glove with impeccable provenance; game used bats from Harmon Killebrew, Brooks Robinson, Thurman Munson and Tony Conigliaro, each authenticated by PSA/DNA; plus a number of other game-used bats, jerseys, jackets, hats, shoes, equipment and plenty more.
