Highlighted Auction Results:

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle
The most iconic sports card of the post-war era, the PSA authentic 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle sold for $35,670. Also selling in the auction was a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie PSA 4 card that went for $19,065 and a 1948 Leaf Satchel Paige rookie PSA Authentic that sold for $20,295. A collection of T-206 White Borders featuring 397 cards including 20 Hall of Famers sold for $21,525.

Babe Ruth Signed Baseball
Every Ruth ball tells a story. This one’s story is, first, that it’s an upper mid-grade, borderline high-grade example with a minimally “7”-strength signature. All the hallmarks of Babe’s autograph artistry—from his bulbous “B” to the tall “b” to his looping “R” and crossed “th”—are here in spades. Not to mention that the elegant script is perfectly centered to boot. Next in our story comes the venerable manufacturer Spalding, whose “Star” model can often be traced to the iconic 1927 season, yet is likely later in this instance due to the absence of Ruth’s early-style quotation marks around “Babe.” The lightly toned/scuffed ball concludes its story with the seldom-seen, mostly intact retail box, which remains bright and vibrant despite heavy wear throughout. As a point of reference on value, it’s worth noting that we sold a very similar quality Ruth ball way back in 2007 for over $40,000. Full LOA from JSA. The ball sold for $21,217.50.

Pep Youngs Signed Baseball
Near Impossible Class of 1972 Hall of Famer! It’s widely held that the three toughest Hall of Fame autographs are Jose Mendez, Cristobal Torriente and Frank Grant with zero—yes, ZERO—known exemplars. Ross Youngs no doubt ranks in the Top 10 for rarity and is found almost exclusively on New York Giants team-signed baseballs. But single-signed balls? Youngs all by his lonesome? Near non-existent. In 2016, an almost single (with Youngs as a sweet-spot sandwiched between two other signatures) sold at auction for a whopping $18,000. Which is to say, even the most advanced Hall of Famer single-signed ball collector has a gaping hole in the Ross Youngs slot. Hence, this circa 1925-26 survivor is rare as hen’s teeth, far more elite than a Ruth, and could even max out in the high 5-figure stratosphere. Dare we say it’s the Button Gwinnett of Cooperstown signed singles. The ball sold for $20,910.
