MEARS Auctions: Consignments Wanted, Open House Update, Show Schedule

MEARS Memorial Day Celebration Auction Ends Saturday May 30thCollectors are continuing to comment on the consistently high prices realized across the board at our monthly auction. Coupled with free authentication and grading on select items, 30 day lighting fast payments, and worldwide growth, MEARS is the perfect place to consign your collection. We are aggressively seeking:

Game Worn Jerseys (Free Authentication for qualifying Items), Game Used Bats, Vintage Pennants, Programs/Scorecard, Tickets, Original Photography, Autographs, Bobbing Head Dolls/Statues, Collections Big & Small, Specialty Collections, Theme Collections, Etc.

The MEARS Museum hosted their second open house and we were quite pleased by the attendance. Milwaukee area collector Jim Haught was in attendance along with a couple of father and son teams, Tim & Ryan Worden and Brian & Tom Heller. It was very nice to see a couple of families in attendance, as it is so important to create interest to future generations.

As a special bonus for our guests, the MEARS Museum revealed a new item for our collection. Last night we installed the letter which Hank Aaron submitted to the MLB offices to officially announce his retirement from Major League Baseball. We were very happy to share this document with our friends in attendance. Tim Worden is pictured reading the letter and was the first collector to have seen this letter since be filed since 1976.

Brian Heller, sporting a Borchert Field throwback jacket, is seen in this photo studying our AAA Milwaukee Brewers collection featuring jerseys, photos, and team signed baseballs. His father Tom commented how he enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and White Sox themed displayed. Speaking of the Chicago Cubs, MEARS is excited to announce a very special addition to our museum display, 1945 Peanuts Lowery Chicago Cubs World Series Ring.

Dave Grob covered the piece in the accompanying article. We are quite excited to add this historic ring, and we have plans for further expansion of our Cubs display in the latter part of 2016.

Ryan Worden participated incthe Museum Evaluations Learning Exhibit which is the hand-on portion of the tour which offers the patron the ability to review authentic patches, tagging guides, and real game worn shirts.

Earlier in the week we had the honor of hosting Milwaukee Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin and pitching legend Ken Sanders. Doug Melvin toured the display and provided us some great insight to the history, business, and daily operations of the game. We discussed plans for creating a “Legacy Project”, which will introduce current players to the history the of Brewers franchise and will be hosted at the MEARS Museum.

The next MEARS Open House event is Monday, March 7th, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:30PM. Food and beverage will be complimentary.
