Memory Lane Sells 1951 Bowman Mantle For $600K

The highest PSA-graded 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card has become the second most expensive sports card ever sold. Tustin, California-based Memory Lane, Inc. has announced the private sale of a PSA 10 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle card to a collector for $600,000. It is believed to be the second highest price ever paid for a single sports card, trailing only the PSA 8 T206 Honus Wagner which was sold twice last year, each time for a price in excess of $2 million. PSA has graded over 1,000 1951 Bowman Mantle cards but the recently sold copy is the only one has been labeled a 10 (gem mint). The card, which once resided in the collection of former Major League pitcher Tom Candiotti, was originally graded during the 1990s. Click here to continue reading the full story.
