Mile High Card Company’s October 20th Auction In Full Swing – Offers Several Extreme Rarities

Mile High Card Company’s fall auction continues with live bidding that will culminate on October 20th. The auction opened up for bidding on October 3rd and has been met with exceptional interest and excitement for the nearly 1450-lot event, which is decidedly smaller in scope as MHCC has started a smaller internet bi-monthly auction known as MHCC Extra Innings. When asked to give a brief overview of the fall auction company founder and CEO Brian Drent described the sale as “a presentation of some of the finest material available on the market, at the current time, with several exceptional items that are being offered fresh to collectors”.

Catalogs, which were shipped on September 30th, present much more like a high end coffee table book rather than an auction catalog with interesting well written descriptions as well as stunning imagery of the high caliber items. The auction is paced by an extensive array of high- grade singles for which MHCC is well known, but also includes a tremendous selection of high- grade complete sets and groups, non- sports material, autographs, game- worn collectibles, photographs, and unopened material. All of this makes the fall MHCC auction a collecting event for enthusiasts from every genre of our hobby.

A couple of the highlights from this exceptional sale are the following: A stunning and exceedingly rare 1888 Yum Yum Tobacco Cap Anson which has been graded VG 3, a superlative 1907 W600 Sporting Life cabinet of Ty Cobb that is the highest graded copy in the hobby having been graded VG 3 by PSA, also offered is a stunning 24card uncut 1933 Goudey sheet that features a beautiful #53 Babe Ruth as well four other HOFers, as well the MHCC sale includes the highest PSA graded copy of the rare 1909-11 T206 Bill O’Hara St. Louis which has been graded PSA NM 7, not to be overlooked is a spectacular 1914 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson that has been graded NM 7, a new to the hobby 1914 Cracker Jack #88 Christy Mathewson is also offered in a PSA 2 GD holder but presenting much stronger visual eye appeal, The sale also offers a stunning and altogether delicious offering of an unopened 1961-62 Fleer Basketball unopened box of 24 packs, and last but certainly not least is a terrific and imagination conjuring 1953-54 Parkhurst #27 Jean Beliveau rookie card that has been graded an awesome GEM MINT 10!

Not to be overlooked when compared to the stupendous offering of cardboard is an equally impressive array of memorabilia that is highlighted by the following items: an extraordinarily significant 1909 Pittsburgh Pirate World Championship panoramic photograph featuring the incomparable Honus Wagner, as well offered is an impressive 1913 T200 Fatima Large Premium Pittsburgh Pirate on the original backing, also offered is a stunning 1967 Louisville Slugger advertising display highlighted by the inclusion of Mantle, Mays, Clemente and Rose, as well featured is a stunning original Burke photograph of Jimmy Foxx that has been signed to his Hall Of Fame teammate Lefty Grove, as usual there are a couple of great game used highlights in the auction buoyed by the inclusion of a stunning 1985 Chicago Bears Walter Payton road jersey and a stunning 1977-78 Winnipeg Jets Bobby Hull game used sweater.

As is always the case with a Mile High Card Company auction there is literally something for everyone, from the pre-war enthusiasts to post-war collectors, from the high-grade aficionados to collector- grade type hobbyists. According to MHCC’s Managing Director of Acquisitions, Andy Madec,”MHCC’s current auction is a true collectors event with something for every genre of enthusiast”.

All of the aforementioned highlights as well as the rest of the nearly 1450 lots are available for bidding on the company’s website at or by contacting MHCC via telephone at (303) 840-2784. As previously mentioned all catalogs have been shipped for this auction and bidding will culminate October 20th. Mile High Card Company is currently accepting consignments for their Winter auction (as well as all 2012 auctions) with a consignment deadline of October 15th.
