Six high grade T206 baseball cards accounted for over a quarter million dollars in sales in a Goodwin & Company auction. There’s no recession for vintage baseball cards when the subjects in question carry mint labels from the grading and authentication companies. A group of PSA 9 T206 cards paced the hundreds of items offered in the Goodwin & Company catalog sale that closed in the wee hours of last Friday morning. Top price went to a T206 Walter Johnson portrait that sold for $72,675 including the company’s 17.5% buyer’s premium tacked on to the winning bid. 26 bids were made on the card.
Goodwin offered two of one of the year’s most talked-about issues, the 1869 Peck & Snyder Cincinnati Red Stockings trade card. The small variation and the larger card were both offered in the sale, with the small version selling for $29,711 and the larger variety bringing $22,321.
