The Board of Directors of the National Sports Collectors Convention today reported with deep sadness the passing of Michael Berkus, the events co-founder. Mr. Berkus had guided the National Sports Collectors Convention since he co-founded the event back in Los Angeles, 1980, leading it to become the multi-billion dollar sports and entertainment collectible industry’s premier showcase.
Ms. Etta Hersh, President of the NSCC Board of Directors, reported the company’s leadership team will continue in their present responsibilities. No changes are anticipated in the company’s day-to-day business activities.
“We lost a pioneer, a visionary, a legend, a mentor but more importantly a great friend.” said John Broggi, NSCC Show Manager. “Mike will always be remembered as a class act, a man of integrity and a devout family man, he will be missed.”
He is survived by his wife, Sher; his children, Nate Berkus, Steven Berkus, Daniel Berkus and Robert Berkus. Memorial Services will be held at Mariners Chapel, 5001 Newport Coast Dr., Irvine, CA 92603 on Tuesday, November 24th at 11 am.
