Hunt Auctions is honored to present the Personal Collection of National Baseball Hall of Fame member Joe Morgan. This important collection originating from one of the key members of the Cincinnati Reds ‘Big Red Machine;’ dynasty from the 1970s will be featured within the 22nd annual Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory live auction to be held on November 14, 2026 in Louisville, KY.
Joe Morgan broke into Major League Baseball in the mid-1960s with the Houston Colt 45’s/Astros. Through nine seasons he was a key member of the expansion National League franchise earning two NL All-Star selections. It was after the 1971 season however that Morgan’s career trajectory changed dramatically with a consequential trade to the Cincinnati Reds joining a powerhouse club to form one of the great dynasty teams in MLB history. Joe’s impact was immediate at the plate and in the field with an impressive string of NL All-Star appearances from 1972-79. During Morgan’s tenure with the Reds he won five NL Gold Glove Awards, Two NL MVP Awards, and two World Championships. His importance to the great Reds teams of the 1970s era was immeasurable as one of the best clutch performing second baseman in the history of the game. Joe took his deep knowledge of the game and skilled communicative skill set to the broadcast booth after his playing career to endear himself to another generation of baseball fans. Morgan was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1990 and is regarded by many as the greatest all around second baseman in MLB history.
