RR Auction, the leading auction house for buying and selling authentic autographs, documents and historical memorabilia, announced its expansion into the sports cards and collectibles market with a dedicated Sports Department late last year. The inaugural kick-off auction event will be held June 14-21, 2018. As is the industry standard, the remarkable offerings have been graded and evaluated by PSA.
More than 800 sports items, in a variety of formats, will be offered at the June auction. There is a large selection of fresh-to-market baseball cards from a lifelong collector. Highlights include encapsulated single cards from the 1800s – 1895 N300 Mayo’s Ed Delehanty; and 1887 N172 Old Judge John Ward. Also from that era is a large single card 1888 N173 Old Judge Cabinets Jim O’Rourke, in throwing pose. Two standout Topps cards are a 1967 Mets Rookies Bill Denehy/Tom Seaver, and a 1968 Mets Rookies J. Koosman/Nolan Ryan.
A signed candid photo of young Muhammad Ali (signed Cassius Clay) at the 1960 Olympics speaks to RR’s reputation as the industry leader in autographs. Also offered is the World Series ring from 1955 when the Dodgers broke the streak of the Yankees; a tear-away game uniform shirt from Chicago Bears football player Brian Piccolo; as well as signed baseballs, game-worn jerseys and more. Already dominating the Olympics memorabilia field, RR will also offer a stunning gold winner’s medal from the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics.
Select elite items will still be considered for feature in this inaugural auction. Interested consignors are encouraged to contact Bob Eaton immediately at 800-937-3880.
