PSA Launches New ‘Jumbo Holders’ to Encapsulate Photos and Documents

Steve Sloan Named President of PSAProfessional Sports Authenticator (www.PSAcard.com) is launching a new line of oversized, encapsulated “jumbo holders” to not only assist collectors with preserving and authenticating signed and unsigned original photos, but also important documents boasting signatures and historical significance. PSA officials, who understand that collectors often have more than trading cards within their prized collections.

“The new holders are being integrated into our autograph encapsulation and original photograph services,” said PSA President Steve Sloan. “They will enable us to encapsulate a wider variety of collectibles for collectors, specifically original photographs and autographed 8x10s.”

PSA will utilize its established red labels on all original photos, whether signed or unsigned. Autographed photos that are not classified as original photographs as well as autographed documents will receive PSA’s blue label. Depending on the content, the labels will include callouts ranging from photo genre and photo type to the primary signer’s name and an authentic designation. A unique certification number will be assigned to every photo holder and/or document holder encapsulation, and descriptions will be applied when appropriate.

The outer dimensions of each holder will be the same: 9.73” wide by 13.21” high by 0.322” thick. The insert sizes, however, will vary depending upon the item that is being encapsulated, and will include the standard inner size of 8.5” x 11” as well as 8.5” x 10.5,” 7.5” x 9.5” and 6.25” x 8.25.” The retail pricing for each encapsulation will be $30, not including the autograph authentication where applicable. However, a special introductory encapsulation rate of just $20 will be offered at the NSCC Show. About PSA and PSA/DNA
Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) is the largest and most trusted third-party grading and authentication company in the world. Cards and collectibles graded by PSA are worth considerably more than those that are not – and for good reason. As the grading standard of the industry, PSA is the preferred choice of collectors, dealers and auction houses worldwide. Founded in 1991, PSA has processed over 30 million cards and collectibles with a cumulative declared value of over a billion dollars. Each month we process approximately 100,000 submissions from hobbyists who are serious about maximizing the value of their collections. By providing the advantage and protection of impartial, third-party grading, PSA has created a market in which collectors can participate with complete confidence and trust.

PSA/DNA is the world’s leading third-party authentication service for autographs and memorabilia. PSA/DNA Authentication Services was founded by PSA in 1998 in response to widespread counterfeiting, forgery and piracy of autographed collectibles. Just as PSA grading changed the way cards and other collectibles are valued, bought and sold, PSA/DNA’s four-level authentication process has revolutionized the hobby of autograph and memorabilia collecting – making it safer and more enjoyable for all. PSA/DNA Authentication Services has authenticated hundreds of thousands of autographs and collectibles from the worlds of sports, music, entertainment, politics and history, including many of the most valuable of their kind.

Who Says It’s Mint? Quality is the Key
Some trading card and ticket collectors have a passion for the vintage greats: Ruth, Gehrig, Aaron and Mantle, while others go for today’s heavy hitters, like Pujols, Griffey, and Jeter. Whatever your preference, one rule applies: All great collections are based on the very best quality. But sometimes looks can be deceiving, and it’s not always easy to understand all of the nuances of condition.

Why Third-Party Grading Makes a Big Difference
Grading collectibles like cards and tickets can be tricky, and a lot of money often rides on determining the right grade. What if you find out your “Mint” Cal Ripken rookie is only “Near Mint” when you go to sell it? Or, that the “Mint” Ted Williams you’re thinking about buying has actually been trimmed? You want to be able to buy cards and tickets with the confidence that they are accurately graded — and that’s where we come in.

Grading Accuracy You Can Depend On
Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) is the world’s largest third-party authentication service. With PSA behind your collectibles, there is no more guesswork or taking the word of one dealer over another. Now you can have your collectibles graded by an unbiased group of the hobby’s top experts — and at the same time be assured that the only interest they have in your collectibles is to make sure they’re properly graded and carefully preserved. PSA’s grading standard is recognized industry-wide as the best possible form of consumer protection. So when you see a collectible for sale, displaying the PSA logo, you’ll know you can buy with confidence that it has been properly graded. If you want to verify the grade of your item before you sell, have it graded by PSA and realize its full value without leaving any money on the table. And if it’s safe, long-term storage you’re after, PSA’s tamper-evident holder offers the most visually appealing form of safe storage known. Our protective insert and optical-grade plastic holder will help keep your top collectibles in great shape for years to come.
