PSA/DNA Unveils Autograph QuickOpinion Option on eBay

PSA-AuctionReport-180x120If you’ve ever been hesitant about purchasing an autographed item on eBay, for fear that it might be a forgery, you now have the option of asking an industry expert for their professional opinion regarding its authenticity before clicking the “Add to cart,” “Place bid,” “Make Offer” or “Buy It Now” buttons. Veteran authenticators at PSA/DNA are available to evaluate the autograph in question via a convenient “QuickOpinion™” option that will provide peace of mind for collectors.

The service has been available on eBay for the past 16 years but is now very visible on the site via a PSA/DNA QuickOpinion™ link that reads “Get an Autograph Expert’s Opinion” (https://www.psacard.com/quickopinion/ebay) that’s included on every single eBay listing offering an autographed item. The service is affordable at $10 per item and here’s how it works:

Click on the QuickOpinion™ link and enter the eBay item number for the autographed piece you are interested in and then make a fast and easy payment. The item listing page is then sent to PSA/DNA’s highly qualified staff of experts for an online examination.

Within 24-to-48 hours you will receive an email with PSA/DNA’s opinion on whether they feel the item is “likely genuine” or “likely not genuine.”

While every effort will be made to examine all item listings submitted, requests for opinions on listings closing in less than 24 hours will likely be too late to examine. With most eBay auctions lasting five or seven days, collectors are encouraged to submit their opinion requests promptly.

If the situation arises where QuickOpinion™ is unable to render an opinion, the collector will be provided a refund to his or her account.

“This is an important step in our continuing fight against forgeries,” said PSA/DNA Vice President Steve Sloan. “Before a collector makes a purchase, it’s now incredibly easy to get a professional opinion from PSA/DNA.”

If you are the winning bidder and ultimately purchase the autographed item, you have the option of sending in the piece to PSA/DNA’s experts for a formal and complete examination. If PSA/DNA receives the item within 90 days of the close of the auction, you will be entitled to a $10 credit off the company’s regular authentication fee. All you need to do is attach a copy of your paid QuickOpinion invoice to the PSA/DNA submission form.
