Rare 1909 Cleveland Naps Game Worn Jersey Featured In Heritage Upcoming Auction

heritage9-24-13With the start of our Fall catalog auction right around the corner, featuring more than 3500 quality lots of sports cards and memorabilia, we are proud to highlight a thrilling and exceedingly rare 1909 game-worn Cleveland Naps Jersey road grey pinstriped flannel worn by Glenn Liebhardt. The first we’ve ever encountered, this particular model once belonged to the right-handed relief pitcher, who recorded a respectable 2.92 earned run average during this, his final season in the Major Leagues. We’re able to peg the vintage definitively to the 1909 season as it was the only year utilizing pinstriped grey without a contrast collar.

Neatly embroidered in green at interior collar is “G. Liebhardt,” and the same color felt is utilized to spell “Cleveland” in unique block lettered font across the chest. It’s arguably the best-preserved Major League uniform piece of this vintage in the modern hobby. A simply magnificent relic for the advanced and uncompromising uniform collector. To view auction, please click here.

Please note that the dates for our Fall catalog auction have been moved back two weeks to November 7-9. The auction will be our largest ever, and we are pleased to announce that the change will allow more time for bidding, while also allowing the catalogs to be in the bidders’ hands with plenty of time. Bidding will start on HA.com/Sports at or around October 3.

HA.com/Sports is the place to be every Sunday night for collectors of fine sports memorabilia and trading cards.

Over 100 lots will close to initial bidding at 10:00 PM CT. On a lot-by-lot basis, starting at 10:00 PM CT, any person who has bid on the lot previously may continue to bid on that lot until there are no more bids for 30 minutes. For example, if you bid on a lot during Normal Bidding, you could participate during Extended Bidding for that lot, but not on lots you did not bid on previously. If a bid was placed at 10:15, the new end time for that lot would become 10:45. If no other bids were placed before 10:45, the lot would close. If you are the high bidder on a lot, changing your bid will not extend the bidding during the 30 Minute Ending phase (only a bid from another bidder will extend bidding).

No other major sports memorabilia auction house provides its clientele this much bidding excitement. It’s just another reason why Heritage is the World’s Largest Collectibles Auctioneer.
