Scarce Topps Test Issues at Love of the Game

Love of the Game Auctions, Winter 2013 auction is in progress now! For Topps baseball collectors, we’ve got a host of scarce test issues and high-grade rarities for the discriminating collector.

Extremely rare 1967 Topps Stand-Up (proof) Jim Fregosi, super-scarce 1973 Topps Comics Willie Davis, and 1973 Topps Stand-Up (proof) Mike Marshall.  Three unbelievably difficult cards from some of Topps’ most scarce test issues.
The 1974 Topps Deckle Edge set is one of the most desirable test issues of the modern era.  We’re offering a large group of proofs from that set, including the above Jim PalmerTom Seaver, and Johnny Bench.
The 1967 Topps Punch-Outs set is one of the most scarce Topps test issues, having been distributed in just a few regions in Maryland.  We’re fortunate to offer a nice grouping of 1967 Punch-Outs in this auction, including the highest-graded examples of Bill WhiteJohnny Edwards, and an ultra-high grade example of Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio.
Initially intended to be attached to the front of a pin-back button that was never produced, the 1967 Topps discs never materialized.  A small amount of proofs made it out into the hobby, including this SF Giants Test disc of Hall of Famer Juan Marichal, and these standard discs of Marichal and Denny McLain.

We’ve also got some of the most beautiful cards of Mickey Mantle you’ll ever see, starting with these two jaw-dropping issues from 1958 and 1959.  Both graded NMT-MT by PSA, they’re as well-centered as you’ll find, with perfect corners and vibrant color.
And lastly, we’ve got a gorgeous example of Mantle’s 1962 “special” card, signed personally by the Yankees centerfielder himself!
