SCP Auctions is thrilled to present the full uniform and shoes the late, great Kobe Bryant wore in the final career road game of his 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe wore the offered purple jersey and matching trunks in Oklahoma City against the Thunder on April 11, 2016 – just two nights before his famous 60-point “Mamba Out” finale at Staples Center. The jersey, shorts and shoes have each been conclusively photo-matched by both Resolution Photomatching and Sports Investors Authentication.
The auction also includes other highly historic Kobe Bryant memorabilia: a 2000 Lakers championship ring gifted to his father Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, a game worn shooting shirt photomatched to 17 regular season and playoff games during his MVP 2007-08 season, and a game used and autographed ball from his 61-point performance at MSG.
The auction is full of significant Mickey Mantle and Honus Wagner cards. Three 1952 Topps Mantles (PSA 3, 4, and 6) and two 1951 Bowmans (PSA 3.5 and 6) give Mick collectors plenty to cheer about. A scarce 1902-11 Sporting Life Cabinets John “Hans” Wagner graded PSA 5 with only one graded higher, and the highest graded 1911 M116 Sporting Life Hans Wagner (Pastel Background, ‘300 Subject Back’) graded PSA NM-MT 8 are a couple of Wagner rarities being offered.
The sale also includes part one of the best collection of Pete Rose cards ever to be offered publicly. The second-ranked Pete Rose master set out of over 100 in the PSA registry will be offered in nearly 150 separate lots in the auction. There will also be an option to bid on every card being presented in one single lot. SCP’s consignor also owns the #1 ranked set, so this will basically be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high grade, low population vintage card collectors to get their hands on these special cards.
Christian Laettner has consigned several items from his personal collection to SCP. These include his 1991 and 1992 NCAA championship rings, one of his Dream Team game worn uniforms, and his Dream Team Basketball Hall of Fame ring.
Other substantial player-worn memorabilia items are being presented. The shoes LeBron James wore during his 2000 high school state championship game, a Michael Jordan rookie game worn jersey, and the cleats Bobby Thomson wore during his famous “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” are among the stellar game worn lots.
Many rare and historic PSA/DNA Type 1 original photographs have been consigned to SCP. These lots include a 1927 Lou Gehrig portrait, a 1928 Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb & Speaker photo, and a 1920 Ruth shot from his first season with the Yankees. In all, over 100 original photo lots grace this auction’s catalog.
Some significant and valuable championship jewelry and awards are included in the premium sale. Dick Groat’s 1960 NL batting champion silver bat, a pair of gold and silver medals awarded to Ukrainian skier Oleksandr Abramenko at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, a 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL ring, and a 1980 Los Angeles Lakers championship ring round out the auction.
