Clay Hill, the second-longest tenured employee in SCP Auctions’ 37-year history, has left the building. After 30 years of outstanding service as the company’s resident trading card expert, Clay retired just two weeks ago to spend more time with family.
“Clay was an incredible asset and resource for the company during his three decades’ worth of service here,” said SCP Auctions President and Owner David Kohler. “Needless to say, Clay and his consistent combination of expert knowledge, punctuality and professionalism will be sorely missed.”
A former president of the Southern California Sports Collectors’ Club from the 70’s, Clay has many fond memories of those early days. When asked if he has any favorite piece from his extensive personal collection, one item stands out above all the rest. Over 30 years in the making, Clay managed to collect the entire 1960 Topps Baseball set completely autographed. Players, managers, coaches, even owners; all have signed their respective cards in this incredible set.
SCP Auctions wishes all the best to Clay and his family in retirement.
