SCP Auctions Snags Triple Crown of 2021 World Series-Clinching Braves Home Run Balls

For the first time in a generation the Atlanta Braves were crowned MLB champions this season, blanking the Houston Astros 7-0 in Game 6 of the 2021 World Series on Nov. 2. SCP Auctions has amassed all three iconic Braves big fly balls from that championship-clinching game and will be offering them in our upcoming Winter Premier Auction from Jan. 19 to Feb. 5.

Perhaps the most talked-about homer of the three was World Series MVP Jorge Soler’s three-run, 446-foot moonshot that went straight out of Minute Maid Park in Houston. When the ball finally came back to Earth, it landed on top of an awning outside the stadium. It then rolled to a stop on the sidewalk just inside a fence separating the park from the surrounding city.

That was where the ball sat for eight whole minutes. Brothers Manuel and Richard Ramos, who were watching the game from an apartment building adjacent to the stadium, noticed no one was coming to grab the ball and decided to try to get it themselves. Manuel ran down six flights of stairs and captured the valuable memento. Now, he has consigned the bomb to SCP just in time for our Winter Premier. Last month, Soler’s smash was named the winner of the 2021 MLB Legendary Moment Award as well.

With the Braves maintaining a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning of the game, shortstop Dansby Swanson cushioned the lead when he plated another pair of runs on a 411-foot blast. Swanson’s smack had an exit velocity of 108.8 mph. He is an Atlanta-area native and grew up rooting for the Braves. He has played for the team since making his MLB debut in 2016 and made his mark on the franchise’s first title since he was one year old. The homegrown product’s most important hit of his career can be yours when the bidding starts Jan. 19.

The Braves were still shutting out the ‘Stros 6-0 in the top of the seventh inning when Freddie Freeman, the face of the franchise, stepped to the plate. Freeman already had an RBI double in the fifth inning and was looking to deliver the dagger. He put the cherry on top of the victory for Atlanta, firing the third pitch he saw 416 feet to put the Braves up 7-0. The Braves would never relinquish a run and went on to win the game and the Series by that score.

The lucky winners of the 2020 NL MVP’s 2021 World Series homer were young cousins Hudson Pace and Steven Edwards. After Freeman’s ball bounced off a railing and back into the field of play, the pair asked Astros outfielder Jose Siri to toss them the ball. He did just that, and now that thrilling big fly has been hit into SCP’s Winter Premier.

SCP estimates the trio of baseballs will combine to bring six figures when all is said and done. It would be a sight to behold if all three pieces of Braves history were displayed together somewhere in Atlanta. SCP Auctions is still accepting consignments for its Winter Premier Auction until Dec. 20. Call (949) 831-3700 or visit www.scpauctions.com to consign today.
