Two-time World Series Champion and five-time MLB All Star Steve Sax has consigned his player collection to SCP Auctions’ 2023 Spring Premier Auction . Over three dozen items from the former Los Angeles Dodger’s career will be a part of the sale opening April 12, 2023.
Sax has consigned both his 1981 and 1988 World Series rings won with the Dodgers to SCP, as well as his player trophies from those titles. He also will be offering up each of his five MLB All Star rings. A memorable moment in Sax’s career was when he stood in the on-deck circle as Kirk Gibson hit his legendary Game 1 home run off Dennis Eckersley during the 1988 World Series. Sax’s game worn, signed and inscribed jersey from that game will also be offered at auction. Many more mementos from his career will be a part of the Steve Sax Collection.
Sax’s son Capt. John J. Sax was one of five U.S. Marines who passed away tragically in a training flight crash last year. A portion of the proceeds from the collection will benefit the Capt. John J. Sax Foundation. Sax said: “In continuing to honor the life of a devoted flyer, the Capt. John J. Sax Foundation serves to support those who choose to further their education, exploration and passion for flight dwelling within the hearts of future aviators within the United States of America.”
