Sig Auctions Embarks on its Largest Event Ever with 2,600+ Auction Lots

siglogo2015Sig Auctions ( of Phoenix presents its largest-ever undertaking for their December 1, 2015 auction: more than 2,600 unique lots including signed pieces and artifacts from the worlds of sports, politics, entertainment, and popular culture.

In its first five months as an online auction company, Sig Auctions has quickly established itself as an ally to both the consignor and the bidder; a company that is that is bidder friendly while allowing consignors to achieve maximum sales results. Collectors have taken note, as the current auction features some of the most tantalizing material currently available on the auction circuit. These noteworthy items include autographs from such high-profile Hollywood names as Humphrey Bogart, Marlon Brando, Billy Holliday, Frank Sinatra, and John Wayne; sports icons such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jack Johnson, Mickey Mantle, and Roger Maris; and historical figures including Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and Winston Churchill.

Highlights of the December 1 Auction Include:

  • Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball
  • A stunning Spalding Official Association red-and-blue stitched ball beautifully signed across the sweet spot in black fountain pen by Babe Ruth. The Bambino is the cornerstone of any true collection, with this very desirable mid-grade example making a welcome addition.
  • Hall of Fame Signed Ball with Two Babe Ruth Signatures
  • An official William Harridge American League baseball signed by eight of the game’s greatest players including Babe Ruth (who has signed twice — once on the sweet spot and a personalized example on a side panel), Connie Mack, Eddie Collins, Lefty Grove, George Sisler, Walter Johnson, and Frank Baker.
  • Exceptional Humphrey Bogart Signed Photograph
  • One of the finest Humphrey Bogart autographed photos available — a black-and-white 8″ x 10″ portrait signed in black fountain pen with a bold Near Mint to Mint signature.
  • Rare Marlon Brando Vintage Signed “Guys and Dolls” Photograph
  • A matte-finish black and white St. Hilaire photograph picturing Brando as Sky Masterson from the film “Guys and Dolls”, signed in blue ballpoint pen and personalized “To Dick My Best Wishes”, with a strong 8-9/10 signature. A scarce, vintage example!
  • Scarce Billie Holiday Signature
  • Billie Holiday’s flowing blue fountain pen signature on album page. The legendary jazz singer’s tragic demise at the age of 44 in 1959 makes her signature one of the most coveted in the hobby.
  • Albert Einstein Signed Page
  • A 4″ x 3″ page bearing a black fountain pen signature from Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientific minds of the 20th century. This page is dated 1934 — just two years after Einstein was forced to flee his German homeland and escape Nazi tyranny.
  • Thomas Edison Signed Business Check
  • An Edison Research Corporation check display signed by Thomas Edison, one of the most prolific inventors in the history of the world.
  • One of the Finest Winston Churchill Signed Photos in the Hobby
  • A Walter Stoneman studio photo featuring a matte-finish black-and- white, 4″ x 5″ photo picturing a stoic looking Winston Churchill. The image has been affixed to a 5″ x 7″ studio backing, upon which Churchill has placed a strong, 9/10 signature in black fountain pen.
  • Exceedingly Scarce 1940 New York Giants Cartier Sterling Silver Presentation Platter

One of the most interesting pieces of early football memorabilia Sig Auctions has encountered and the only presentation piece of its kind of which we are aware: a 1940 New York Giants sterling silver presentation platter made by Cartier. The platter measures 16″ in diameter and bears more than 39 engraved signatures of Giants team members (including Wellington Mara, Tuffy Leemans, Steve Owen, Fred Logan, Jim Poole, Ward L. Cuff, Jack Hinkle, and Hank Soar) surrounding two sets of engraved goal posts. This may be your only chance to own one of these one-of-a-kind platters and a “must have” for any serious Giants collector!

Sig Auctions’ founder, Bobby Poll, established the Phoenix-based business Autograph Reference in 2001 to provide an array of collectibles and authentically signed material to buyers before venturing into the online auction realm. Both companies continue to operate with the same objective: being respectful to the hobby while offering quality items that will add value to a customer’s collection. Sig Auctions is currently accepting assignments for its January 2016 auction. For more information, please contact a consignment specialist at, call toll free 888-859-1408, or visit
