The Internet only auction through Sotheby’s and SCP Auctions opens January 15, 2008. The sports memorabilia and card sale will feature more than 900 lots, and will close January 29-30. Both auction houses recognize the dynamic items in the auction. “It is always exciting to present collectors with quality cards and memorabilia that are new to the marketplace, or from ‘old collections’ that have kept the material out of recent circulation,†Managing Director of SCP Auctions, Dan Imler said of the previously unseen items. The auction includes many T206s, including lots form the Allan Schwartz collection, a high grade 1912 S81 Silk #108 Christy Mathewson, 1914 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb SGC 60 EX, and more. Other items feature legends like Roberto Clemente, Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth.
