SportsCardLink Announces The Start Of Bidding For Their August 2011 Summer Auction

Bidding goes live in SportsCardLink’s Featured Auction of Sports Cards at 8:00 PM EST on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011. This auction features important sports cards from the late 1800s to the mid 1980’s, with a tremendous range of low, middle and high grade cards that will be sure to excite any sportscard collector. Of particular note are one of the finest accumulations of very early 20th century W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards ever offered, including one of only a handful of cards extant to picture legendary New York Giant pitcher Christy Mathewson wearing Street Clothes, as well as fellow Hall of Famers Hughie Jennings, “Iron Man” Joe McGinnity, Joe Kelley, Bobby Wallace, Jimmy Collins, Jake Beckley and Fred Clarke.

Another sectional highlight would be an incredible collection of cards from the beloved and highly collected 1952 Topps baseball set, including over 30 different cards from the mythical and incredibly desirable run of High Numbers. These cards will greatly enhance any collection of cards from this amazing and most popular of all of Topps card sets! Other important clusters include cards from 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter, 1908 E102 Anonymous, 1909-11 T206 White Border, 1910 E93 Standard Caramel, 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folders, 1915 Cracker Jack, 1932 U.S. Caramel, 1954 Topps and many other post war Topps card sets.

Additional Individual graded card highlights from this important auction include: a scarce 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Tim Keefe, a high grade E95 Philadelphia Caramel Honus Wagner, 1915 Cracker Jack high grade cards of Hall of Famers Eddie Collins, Walter Johnson and Connie Mack, a spectacular 1916 M101-4 “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, a stunning 1932 U.S. Caramel Lou Gehrig, an amazing 1939 Play Ball Rookie card of Ted Williams, an incredibly scarce and virtually perfect 1952 Berk Ross card of Willie Mays, a gorgeous 1954 Bowman Mickey Mantle, a superb Near Mint example of Henry Aaron’s rookie issue, a high quality Roberto Clemente rookie card, a spectacularly rare and high grade 1959 Bazooka Orlando Cepeda, a Mint 1966 Topps Mickey Mantle, and so many more!

The auction also includes numerous graded lots, partial sets, and ultra high grade cards for set builders. 1950 Bowman, 1952 Topps, 1954 Topps, 1956 Topps, 1957 Topps and 1959 Fleer baseball sets can either be started or completed with cards from this auction, and highest graded examples such as 1959 Fleer PSA 10’s and a Pop 1 PSA 10 card from the 1960 Topps set are also included.
