Bidding goes live in SportsCardLink’s Featured Auction of Sports Cards at 8:00 PM EST on Friday, September 7th, 2012. This auction features important sports cards from the late 1880’s to the mid 1980’s, with a tremendous range of low, middle and high grade cards that will be sure to excite any sportscard collector. Of particular note are two large collections of cards from “The Monster” – the great set known to all card collectors as T206 White Border. We are proud to offer “The Florida Collection” of almost 300 T206’s that have remained in the possession of 3 generations of a Florida family for over 100 years. The cards are being offered to collectors for the first time in this auction in several lots, both graded and ungraded. A highlight of this collection is a group of 12 cards that come with Brown Hindu brand ad backs.
The second collection of T206 comes from a Tennessee collector who also had accumulated nearly 300 cards from the set and is now making them available to other collectors for the first time. Numerous examples of Hall of Famers, commons, Minor Leaguers and Southern Leaguers are available, again both in graded and ungraded form.
Additional Individual graded card highlights from this important auction include: a rare 1887 “Kalamazoo Bat” card, 3 different 1908 Rose Company Postcards, a STUNNING PSA 9 MINT 1940 Play Ball Ted Williams, a gorgeous 1948 Leaf Ted Williams in PSA 8, an array of impossibly high grade 1952 Topps High Number cards (all high end PSA 8), a 1952 Berk Ross Ted Williams in PSA 8, a 1962 Topps Mickey Mantle in PSA 8, a 1963 Roberto Clemente in PSA 9, and many, many more.
The auction also includes numerous graded lots, partial sets, and ultra high grade cards for set builders. Near complete runs of Topps cards of Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente highlight this area, with cards like a PSA 10 1959 Irv Noren spicing up the area of interest of high grade set builders. Collectors of high grade 1950’s and 1960’s superstar cards will want to check out a rich assembly of cards that will help improve almost any collection.
