Nathanson’s educational background includes a bachelors degree in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University in 1995 (soon after which he worked on Wall Street for a trading subsidiary of Barclays bank and then decided to pursue his passion for collectibles full-time) and an MBA in Marketing in 1999 from Long Island University at CW Post, where he received the Dean’s Award for graduating first in the University’s MBA class of 1999.
Chris Porter, Consignment Director
Chris Porter, Consignment Director of SportsCardLink, bought his first pack of baseball cards in 1972 as a 5-year old in Lansing, Michigan. Right from that first pack, which included the most beautiful baseball card ever made (1972 Topps #150 Norm Cash), he was hooked. Chris graduated from Michigan State University in 1989 with an Accounting degree but his passion has always been for sports cards. His experiences in the hobby have been broad and varied. Chris was the chief sports card acquirer for Superior Sports Auctions (and company President from 2002 – 2004), as well as Lelands (2004 – 2006). He went on to work for Mastro Auctions from 2006 – 2009. Chris has bought, sold or been involved in the auctioning of virtually every important card in the hobby, including four T206 Wagners, several T206 Planks, several 1933 Goudey Lajoies, and so much more. Chris has been involved in his share of private placement sales as well. In 2002, for example, Chris sold one of only 3 copies of the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle that PSA has graded PSA 10 Gem Mint for the then astronomical price of $275,000. In 2008, as a representative of Mastro Auctions, Chris purchased a complete 1952 Topps set graded almost entirely PSA 8 and sold most of the cards for record prices.
Chris has enjoyed working with collectors and dealers all across North America, helping them to buy or sell single cards or complete collections. His constant evaluation of the card market and innate knowledge of market value as well as intrinsic value has allowed him to creatively structure deals for the mutual satisfaction of all parties. His goal at SportsCardLink is for everyone involved to feel satisfied with every transaction that we consummate.
