Steiner Auctions Mid-Summer Classic Auction Offers More Than 1,200 Lots Of Memorabilia

Steiner Auctions Special Game Used Yankee Auction Ends June 16, 2018Steiner Auctions has announced the 2018 Mid-Summer Classic Auction featuring more than 1,200 lots of sports, entertainment and unique memorabilia is officially open for bidding at Steiner Auctions through August 4.

The auction event features an array of incredible memorabilia items for the Pinstripe faithful including a Babe Ruth game-used NY Yankees bat, Ruth autographed home run baseball, Lou Gehrig minor-league contract, Phil Niekro’s 300th win game-work hat, Aaron Judge’s 70th career home run baseball, Giancarlo Stanton game-used jersey and much more.


Additionally, the auction includes a LeBron James game-worn Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, game-worn/autographed Brett Favre jersey from his final NFL game and Lawrence Taylor’s 1987 Mackey Award. Major League Baseball enthusiasts will have the chance to bid on a 2016 Chicago Cubs Championship Ring, 1986 NY Mets Championship Ring and 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series trophy.

Lot #1 – 1923-25 Babe Ruth Game Used NY Yankees Bat
The 1923-1925 Hillerich & Bradsby R2 model bat measures 36 inches in length and weights a Ruthian 41.2oz. This war-hammer is un-cracked and displays evidence of excellent use. The labeling period of this Babe Ruth professional model bat is defined by the center brand. This bat has been professionally authenticated by PSA/DNA (the worldwide leader in game used bat authentication) in their opinion was game used by Babe Ruth during the labeling period.

Lot #2 – 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series Trophy
This elegant piece is the smaller version of the coveted World Series trophy (Commissioners Trophy) presented to players on the winning club every November. The two World Series teams (Yankees and Pirates) press pins are mounted on small poles on the 7″ diameter black base, in front of the silver baseball. There is a Balfour manufacturer’s sticker underneath the base. This truly important sports artifact is attributed to former All-Star player and 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates coach Virgil Trucks. In 1960 the trophies did not feature player names; however, the trophies were only available to players and coaches. This amazing baseball relic is a necessary addition to any Pirates or general baseball collection.

Lot #3 – 1927 Babe Ruth Autographed Official American League Home Run Baseball
This amazing remnant from the greatest season in New York Yankees baseball history comes from a game at Yankee Stadium in August of 1927. Babe Ruth and the Yankees were playing under the sweltering New York summer sun when the Babe hit a towering shot cracking this exact ball off his bat! The new proud owner of this Babe Ruth home run hit baseball waited at exit to Yankee Stadium and when the Bambino emerged he signed the ball for the delighted young man. This stunning Official American League Ban Johnson baseball of proper vintage with red & blue laces features Ruth’s signature on the side panel in blue fountain pen. The sweet spot of the ball is marked “NEW YORK AUG – 1927”, in the handwriting of Savey himself.

Lot #7 – Giancarlo Stanton New York Yankees 2018 Game Used #27 Pinstripe Jersey (First Home Run in Pinstripes)
From the time Giancarlo Stanton arrived in the majors in 2010, he has done nothing but mash Home Runs. This pinstripe Number 27 Jersey was worn on April 4, 2018 when Stanton hit a monster blast into the left field stands for his first ever home run while donning the legendary pinstripes. Stanton has hit 30+ home runs in each of his first nine seasons in the Big Leagues and is on a fast track for the Hall when all is finally said and done. The jersey has been authenticated by MLB and NY Yankees Steiner.

Lot #6 – Gleyber Torres New York Yankees 2018 Road Game Used #25 Jersey 5/21 & 5/23 – First Multi HR Game (Authenticated to 3HR’s)
This road grey NY Yankees jersey was worn by Gleyber Torres and has been authenticated by MLB to the dates 5/21 & 5/23. On 5/21 Torres hit a pair of Home Runs for his first ever Multi-Home Run game. On 5/23 Torres also hit another home run. In June Steiner Auctions sold Gleyber’s first Major League Hit jersey for an excess of $36,000. That jersey was from only a month prior to this multi- home run worn jersey, the first ever offered in auction.

Lot #9 – 1923 Lou Gehrig Hartford Minor League Contract
Presented is the earliest Lou Gehrig professional baseball contract to ever be offered for purchase. This precious document, dated August 2nd, 1923, is an epic piece of baseball history. This 95-year-old artifact is in extraordinary condition. The “Uniform Agreement for the Assignment of a Player’s Contract to or by a Major League Club” sets forth the terms by which Gehrig was assigned by the Yankees to play for Hartford of the Eastern League. The contract features a signature of Jacob Ruppert that was executed by Ed Barrow, the General Manager of the New York Yankees. It was common for Barrow to pen Ruppert’s name on the contracts of players throughout the tenure of his ownership. Just last year, Lou Gehrig’s 1924 American League Baseball Players contract, in similar condition, sold for a staggering sum of $480,000.00 in public auction. Lot #10 – 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series Championship Ring
The Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series rings arrived with the expected bling and plenty of team iconography. This Chicago Cubs Limited Edition 108 “Friend/Fan” Ring is crafted in 10-karat white gold. The top of the ring features the Cubs iconic bullseye logo created from genuine rubies, sapphires, diamonds and custom red enamel. The bezel includes 112 diamonds, 55 sapphires and 15 rubies. The ring is accompanied by the original box, Jostens Lifetime Warranty, Chicago Cubs Certificate of Appraisal and Jostens/Chicago Cubs Certificate of Authenticity.

Lot #11 – 1986 New York Mets World Series Championship Ring
This is the gold New York Mets 1986 World Series Championship ring given to John Turner Sargent Sr. former CEO of the Doubleday and Co. publishing house and Mets team minority owner. The ring has a rounded square face featuring one large diamond set in blue stone and surrounded by 24 smaller diamonds. “World Champions 1986” wraps around the small diamonds. The right side shows the Mets 25th Anniversary Logo with “SARGENT” engraved above and a Home Plate below, again “NEW YORK” in a downward V-shape completes the side.

Lot #15 – 2017 LeBron James Game Used Cavaliers Jersey Worn at The Garden (11-13- 2017)
Presented is a LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers #23 road jersey that was worn by James. The jersey is photo matched to a contest versus the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden where LeBron escorted his team to a 104-101 victory by piling up 23 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. The jersey has a number of unique design touches, which include all sewn on lettering and numbers, the “ALL FOR ONE. ONE FOR ALL.” team mantra sewn on the front tail, and a gold championship logo that reads “1” on the rear collar of the jersey just above the NBA logoman. Since LeBron is now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, this was from LeBron’s final chapter on the team he will be most associated with historically.

Lot #23 – 2010 Brett Favre Game Worn & Signed Vikings Jersey from Final Game of the Consecutive Game Streak; 297th Game 12/5/10 vs Bills
The Presented Jersey is from Brett Favre’s final game of his NFL record 297 consecutive games streak, in his final NFL season playing for the Minnesota Vikings. The game-worn jersey is signed by Favre on the back number 4 and he has inscribed, “Streak ends 12/5/10”. Favre exited in the 1st quarter of the game due to injury and was unable to start the next week against the New York Giants, consequently, this is the very last jersey Favre wore in a games played streak that is comparable to that of only Cal Ripken Jr. or Lou Gehrig. Lot #24 – 2010 Brett Favre Final NFL Game Worn & Signed Jersey (Vikings vs. Bears 12/20/10)
The Presented Jersey is from Favre’s final NFL game on Dec. 20th, 2010 with the Minnesota Vikings in his final season. The game-worn jersey is signed by Favre on the back number 4 and he has inscribed, “Game Used 12/20/10”. This Reebok jersey shows evidence of game wear and photographic and video analysis were used to conclusively determine that Favre wore this jersey during the game on Dec. 20, 2010 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome vs. the Chicago Bears. Consequently, this is the very last jersey Favre wore in a storied NFL career.

Lot #27 – 2018 Saquon Barkley NY Giants Draft Day Worn “Big Blue” Hat
Saquon Barkley is already a hit after being drafted by the New York Giants. The entire nation watched as Barkley donned this “Big Blue” hat when the Giants called his name on what was the biggest night of his life. A generational talent he is poised to leave his mark on the NFL and has already sold more jerseys than any other player drafted this year.

Lot #28 – 2012-2014 Saquon Barkley Whitehall High School Game Used and Signed Nike Shirt Worn Under Uniform
These Mesh sleeveless Whitehall High School Mesh jerseys were used by players during their practice games, however, Saquon Barkley who was performing poorly in practice elected to switch his number with a teammate late summer his sophomore season. From then on he began to tear up the league and wore this jersey under his uniform during the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Seasons! The Jersey comes signed and also comes with a Steiner LOA signed by Saquon Barkley as well.

Lot #33 – Aaron Judge’s 70th Career Home Run Baseball May 26, 2018
New York Yankees superstar and 2017 Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge got his career off to a hot start and made some baseball history in the process. On May 26, 2018 in the bottom of the first inning, Judge crushed a moonshot to center. The titanic blast did more than just turn a 1-0 Yankees deficit into a 2-1 lead, the home run was the 70th of Judge’s career, making him the fastest MLB player to reach the historic mark.

Lot #37 – Phil Niekro’s 300th Win Game Worn NY Yankees Hat (10-6-85) with “Dad, We Made it, Our 300th” Inscription
Phil Niekro’s 300th win came on October 6th, 1985 when the Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays. This performance also made Niekro the oldest player in the Major League History to throw a Shutout. The hat was purchased directly from Niekro along with his Hall of Fame items also featured in this auction. Under the brim of the hat Niekro inscribed the emotional phrase, “Dad, We made it, Our 300th” as he promised his ailing father that the Hat and the Ball from his 300th would be his!

Lot #42 – Lawrence Taylor’s 1987 Mackey Award “NFC Linebacker of the Year”
Among the accolades heaped on Lawrence Taylor after the 1986 Championship season was the Mackey Award for best linebacker of the year. This 14-inch tall award features an Art Deco player perched defiantly atop a black base with an engraved plaque reading: “LAWRENCE TAYLOR NEW YORK GIANTS NFC LINEBACKER OF THE YEAR 1987 MACKEY AWARD NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.” A tremendous acknowledgement of Taylor’s position as the greatest defensive player of his era.

Lot #47 – 2017 Didi Gregorius Game Used Bat (From 9/20/2017 NYY SS HR Record Game/Passes Jeter)
During the Yankees’ six-run fourth inning, Didi Gregorius slugged a three-run home run off Minnesota Twins’ Tyler Duffey, setting a single-season franchise home run record for a shortstop. The homer hit on 9/20/2017 surpassed Jeter’s mark of 24 set in 1999. The bat has been authenticated by Steiner Sports and belongs in the Hall of Fame or on Display at the Yankees Museum.
