Steve Carlton’s 1982 Cy Young Award Brings $48,875

A collection of Philadelphia baseball items brought out the serious bidding at Huggins & Scott’s latest sale, timed pretty well with the Phillies in the World Series. a 1933 All Star game uniform worn by Dick Bartell was among the pieces in the Dade Theriot collection to hit the auction block. Late last week, more items in the collection were sold via Huggins & Scott’s catalog sale. Tops among the lots sold was Steve Carlton’s 1982 Cy Young award, obtained by Theriot several years ago. It sold for $42,500. With the company’s 15% buyer’s premium added, the final realized price for the one-of-a-kind trophy was $48,875. Click here for full story on Sports Collectors Daily.
