Josh Nathanson, President

SportsCardLink President Josh Nathanson is a lifetime sports card and comic book collector, and has transacted in tens of millions of dollars worth of vintage collectibles. Nathanson is also founder and CEO of ComicLink, which was formed in 1996 and has been bringing together buyers and sellers of vintage comic books and original comic art ever since. Nathanson was selected for Gemstone Publishing’s Diamond Dialogue and Scoop “Star Collector” interview in 2005, a privilege shared by the most honored collecting aficionados. Nathanson and ComicLink enjoy a reputation within the vintage comic book and comic art hobby for honesty, integrity and intention to always strive to meet the goals of both collectors and dealers utilizing ComicLink’s combination of services. Merging his lifelong interest in sports cards with the business model developed for the vintage comic book industry, Nathanson formed SportsCardLink in 2005 and launched the Sports Card Exchange in 2007. In 2011, he will be spearheading SportsCardLink’s foray into the auction segment of the sports and memorabilia market, starting with the January 2011 Featured Auction and highlights such as direct consignments from retired NY Yankee Ralph Terry and NY Met Ed Kranepool, items once owned by Mickey Mantle, and many other card and memorabilia items from the turn of the century to the present day. Nathanson’s educational background includes a bachelors degree in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University in 1995 (soon after which he worked on Wall Street for a trading subsidiary of Barclays bank and then decided to pursue his passion for collectibles full-time) and an MBA in Marketing in 1999 from Long Island University at CW Post, where he received the Dean’s Award for graduating first in the University’s MBA class of 1999.

Chris Porter, Consignment Director

Chris Porter, Consignment Director of SportsCardLink, bought his first pack of baseball cards in 1972 as a 5-year old in Lansing, Michigan. Right from that first pack, which included the most beautiful baseball card ever made (1972 Topps #150 Norm Cash), he was hooked. Chris graduated from Michigan State University in 1989 with an Accounting degree but his passion has always been for sports cards. His experiences in the hobby have been broad and varied. Chris was the chief sports card acquirer for Superior Sports Auctions (and company President from 2002 – 2004), as well as Lelands (2004 – 2006). He went on to work for Mastro Auctions from 2006 – 2009. Chris has bought, sold or been involved in the auctioning of virtually every important card in the hobby, including four T206 Wagners, several T206 Planks, several 1933 Goudey Lajoies, and so much more. Chris has been involved in his share of private placement sales as well. In 2002, for example, Chris sold one of only 3 copies of the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle that PSA has graded PSA 10 Gem Mint for the then astronomical price of $275,000. In 2008, as a representative of Mastro Auctions, Chris purchased a complete 1952 Topps set graded almost entirely PSA 8 and sold most of the cards for record prices.

Chris has enjoyed working with collectors and dealers all across North America, helping them to buy or sell single cards or complete collections. His constant evaluation of the card market and innate knowledge of market value as well as intrinsic value has allowed him to creatively structure deals for the mutual satisfaction of all parties. His goal at SportsCardLink is for everyone involved to feel satisfied with every transaction that we consummate.
