The Lelands Summer Classic Auction Ends September 17, 2022

The Lelands Summer Classic Auction has 1000+ incredible lots of the finest sports memorabilia and cards from Mays, Brady, Mantle, Chamberlain, Russell, Jordan, Ruth, and More , for you to view, consider, and bid on. Bid, view and register for the auction at lelands.com . The Lelands 2022 Summer Classic Auction is open and runs through September 17, 2022.

Tom Brady’s final “pre-retirement” touchdown pass football, a hobby fresh Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps signed rookie card and Evander Holyfield’s gloves from his notorious ear-bite fight with Mike Tyson highlight the Lelands 2022 Summer Classic Auction, which runs through Sept. 17, 2022.

Up for bid is the headline-catching football – from the Bucs playoff loss to the Rams on January 23, 2022 – that Brady threw for presumably his last NFL TD before initially announcing his retirement last February, only to reverse course 40 days later, and one day after Lelands had “sold” the ball at auction. Following Brady’s unretirement, Lelands voided the sale. While the perspective has changed, this football remains a magnificent and historically important piece nonetheless. The football is photo-matched and consigned directly from the fan who caught it after receiver Mike Evans tossed it into the stands following his 55-yard TD reception.

The hobby fresh 1952 Topps Baseball #311 Mickey Mantle signed rookie card offered here is a spectacular specimen. “The Mick” signed this card at a fantasy baseball camp. Although not his true rookie card, this issue has become synonymous with being the Mantle rookie card to own. The card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA/DNA as authentic.

Another centerpiece of the auction is Evander Holyfield’s fight-worn gloves from his 1997 bout with Mike Tyson, infamously referred to as the “Bite Fight.” During the third round of the epic heavyweight clash, “Iron Mike” stunned the boxing world by biting a chunk out of Holyfield’s ear before proceeding to bite the other later in the round, causing a disqualification. The gloves are a knockout piece of pugilistic history.

The auction also boasts a 2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket #144 Tom Brady Autograph card SGC Mint+ 9.5 – Auto 10, a Bill Russell 1964-65 Celtics game-used warmup jersey from one of his MVP seasons, and the earliest known World Series program: issued for Game 4 of the 1886 World Series between the Chicago White Stockings and the St. Louis Browns.

Additional auction highlights include the original artwork for Willie Mays’ 1953 Topps card, a Joe Burrow 2021 Bengals game-worn, “unwashed,” photo-matched jersey, Peyton Manning’s 2014 Broncos game-worn jersey when he became just the second quarterback ever to surpass 65,000 passing yards and beat all 32 teams.

The auction also features a 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan PSA 10 rookie, a 1999 UD Athlete of the Century Michael Jordan POP 1 Autograph /23 PSA 10, and a 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie SGC 10.

Among other notable lots are a Marcus Allen 1997 Chiefs game-worn photo-matched jersey from his final NFL season, a Franz Beckenbauer circa 1979 New York Cosmos game-worn jersey, a Babe Ruth PSA 8 single-signed baseball, and a Wilt Chamberlain 1968-73 Lakers game-worn warmup jacket.

Additional auction highlights include:

  • The only known Muhammad Ali signed 1964 Clay vs. Liston full ticket
  • A Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali autograph card featuring strands of Ruth’s hair
  • Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig 1/1 cut autograph cards
  • A1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain rookie PSA 8
  • A signed game-used ball from Don Larsen’s 1956 World Series perfect game
  • World Series player rings from 2001, 2011 and 2020
  • Tickets to Wilt Chamberlain’s historic 100-point game, and
  • A 2017 Topps Chrome UEFA Soccer Champions League Red Refractor Cristiano Ronaldo PSA 8
