Between a boatload of pristine PSA and SGC single cards, sets and near-sets, and a similarly impressive stockpile of autographed balls of some of the biggest names in professional sports, Collect.com Auction officials are enthused about the company’s upcoming Sports and Americana Auction. The 600-plus lot Collect.com Auction is already up online at http://www.collect.com/auctions/. For a catalog, to register to bid or for more information, call (888) 463-3063. The fourth catalog auction for Collect.com will close on April 8, with the 64-page color catalog inserted with this issue of Sports Collectors Digest.
“We’re extremely pleased with the lineup for this upcoming sale,” said Collect.com Auctions Director Steve Bloedow. “We’re anticipating big things from a number of seldom-seen treasures, perhaps most notably a striking multi-signed baseball from the 1920s with nearly three dozen signatures, including 19 Hall of Famers,” he pointed out.
That ball includes Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Jimmy Foxx, George Sisler, Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove and a host of others, a glittering roster that revs it up to a minimum opening of $3,000.
The memorabilia log also features Scott Norwood’s only game-used helmet, from his seven-year career for the Buffalo Bills, and comes with a lengthy inscription for the former Bills kicker detailing the helmet’s pedigree, right down to a cheerful and ultimate good-sport allusion to “Wide Right.” That makes it a unique opportunity to own a singular piece with NFL history – quite literally – written all over it.
